Unlimited marinated crab near Donggureung
Today, I went out for marinated crab for the first time in ages! This is Onggi Kkotgejang Main Branch, a great marinated-crab spot near Donggureung in Guri. It was even featured on TV before; I first visited because it looked so delicious, and I have been coming back regularly ever since. I do love marinated crab, but sometimes the seasoning is too salty or there is hardly any meat, which can be disappointing. Here, though, the blue crabs were much meatier than expected, so I was pretty pleased from the start. 🦀

It is somewhere we often go when we are craving marinated crab, so we returned again after a while. It is none other than Onggi Kkotgejang Main Branch. I am happy to have such a good restaurant near home.

Inside Onggi Kkotgejang and a Donggureung meal stop

Onggi Kkotgejang is near Donggureung in Guri, making it a great place for a meal after a day out around Donggureung. It is within walking distance, too. It is blue crab season these days, right~? We had been wanting crab, and since this is somewhere we had visited often before, we came here again without hesitation.
In particular, this is a place where you can have unlimited soy-marinated crab and spicy marinated crab, so I think anyone who loves marinated crab would be very satisfied. I love it too, and there are always times when I want just a little more; here, with unlimited refills, I can eat comfortably without that concern.

Meaty blue crab for ₩26,000 per adult
One reason we keep coming back is that the blue crabs are meaty and seem fresh. With unlimited refills at ₩26,000 per adult, you might naturally worry about the condition of the crab, but every time I eat here, the crabs feel quite substantial.

When I saw it on TV, the owner said they bring in the blue crabs directly rather than going through middle distributors, which keeps prices down while allowing them to serve good-quality marinated crab. Maybe that is why the price does not feel burdensome, while the crabs are nicely full of meat and fun to eat. I think that is also why my crab-loving family visits regularly. It looks like soy-marinated shrimp is available now, too, haha.
I do not really like marinated crab when the seasoning is too strong. Soy-marinated crab can sometimes be nothing but salty, but Onggi Kkotgejang is not just intensely salty—the savory umami comes through nicely, so it is delicious. Put crab meat over rice and you immediately understand why people call marinated crab a rice thief. 🤭 The spicy marinated crab is another flavor altogether, so I find myself having soy-marinated crab, then spicy marinated crab, then returning to the soy-marinated one. Both are delicious, so choosing just one is difficult.

But I am on team spicy marinated crab. Around me, soy-marinated crab is overwhelmingly more popular.

Seaweed is at the refill station, and only the flying fish roe costs extra.

A meal with several carefree refills
The staff here were kind, too, which was nice. At some unlimited-refill restaurants, you can feel awkward about asking for more, but the atmosphere here felt relaxed and warm, so we could refill without any pressure whenever we ran low. Since we were enjoying it so much, we naturally had two or three more refills. That sort of thing is quietly important for marinated-crab lovers, you know.

Tip: add a fried egg to crab-shell rice
And here is my recommended way to eat at Onggi Kkotgejang! Have plenty of soy-marinated and spicy marinated crab, then order one fried egg at the end.

Put rice into the crab shell, then add the crab meat, flying fish roe, and fried egg, and mix it all together...

It is a real delicacy. Even when I was fairly full after the crab, I could still eat more rice prepared this way. Extra bowls of rice are only ₩1,000, which is nice because you can order more without feeling burdened. We always keep ordering rice as we eat, and I feel like even women would easily have two bowls each here. haha
The dining room is spacious and the parking is well set up, so it was also a good place for a family meal. That is why I thought it would be a solid option for a family gathering in Guri or a meal out with parents. Especially if you are looking for somewhere to eat near Donggureung, it would be a nice stop for a Guri Donggureung marinated-crab lunch. Families who love marinated crab will be even more satisfied because they can eat their fill with unlimited refills. Another great meal today..! There is a self-serve ramyeon station, too.
The crab meat is no joke, right? I first saw it on TV and thought, “That marinated crab looks good,” so I visited. I tried it once, liked it, and have kept returning regularly whenever it comes to mind.

It had been a while since this visit, but once again, I liked that the blue crabs were meaty and fresh. Above all, the soy-marinated crab was not overly salty and had great umami, so I really enjoyed the meal.

My parents especially love it, too.

Since you can eat as much soy-marinated and spicy marinated crab as you want, along with a hearty meal of rice, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good unlimited-refill restaurant in Guri.

If you are looking for great marinated crab in Guri—especially around Inchang-dong, unlimited soy-marinated crab in Guri, or a Donggureung lunch spot—give Onggi Kkotgejang Main Branch a try.

I think I will come here again next time I am craving marinated crab. haha, marinated crab really is a rice thief.
