The Guri soy-marinated crab place Mom remembered

A little while ago, Mom saw people eating soy-marinated crab and spicy marinated crab on TV and said we should go get some~ So on the weekend, the three of us—my sister, Mom, and I—went for crab, and wasn’t she talking about the crab place we had eaten at in Guri before?! Back then she had gone with my younger brother and me, and she remembered how good it was. Why are you only telling me this now, haha.

Story of a soy-marinated crab meal in Guri

We had still enjoyed our crab meal well enough, but once we turned around and left, something felt a little unfinished and I kept thinking about it~ So I searched for the Guri soy-marinated crab place Mom had mentioned and said I’d go check it out first. The moment I took a bite, I was saying we should come back with Mom next time >.<

Even from that old memory, it had been an unlimited marinated-crab place where you could enjoy soy-marinated and spicy marinated crab made with domestic blue crab without limits, right?!! It had been such a long time that I wondered whether it was still open, but it was still going strong as a Guri favorite for unlimited soy-marinated crab >.<

A great stop after a Donggureung walk

By subway, it is fairly close to Exit 4 of Donggureung Station on Line 8. You do have to walk a little from the station, but if you drive, the parking lot is spacious, so it would be good for group get-togethers or families too! It sits roadside across from Donggureung, making it a nice place for a meal after a walk~

Guests keep coming, with no break time

I visited at around 1 p.m. on a weekday and thought the interior felt relaxed, but because there is no break time, guests kept arriving afterward without a pause. Maybe there were others like us, avoiding peak hours for a more leisurely meal too?!

There were lots of families, and couples were actually the biggest group at the time~ It is not exactly easy for couples to eat marinated crab together, but that just means a truly good restaurant is a marinated-crab restaurant, haha.

There is also Hangang ramen on one side, which you can make yourself after paying separately.

There is just one menu—unlimited soy-marinated crab—so once you settle at your table, the food is set out super quickly according to the number of people.

The basic side dishes include kimchi, bean sprouts, gim (roasted seaweed), and flying fish roe. You can ask for refills on any side dishes you run short of, though there is a separate charge for extra flying fish roe. (Extra flying fish roe: ₩1,000.) We even had some roe left over, lol.

I thought steamed rice had to be ordered separately, but the first spread comes with one bowl of rice per person; only extra bowls ordered afterward cost extra.

Hooked on soy-marinated crab from the first bite

One plate each of soy-marinated crab and spicy marinated crab!! For two people, the first serving included four soy-marinated crabs. With a spread like this, you can have soy-marinated crab according to your mood~ then spicy marinated crab~

A plate of soy-marinated and spicy marinated crab

I am usually on team spicy, but the moment I tried the soy-marinated crab, it was neither too salty nor fishy, so I got hooked and ended up eating only the soy-marinated crab >.< Press the blue crab with your hand once, nice and firmly, and you can tell how packed it is with meat.

Put it straight on a spoonful of white rice and take a bite—it is just crazy!! You cannot help saying, “I could eat two bowls of rice today!!”~

The soy-marinated crab has a savory depth that keeps you going because it is not salty. I found myself eating it without rice and still not noticing any saltiness, just continuing on >.< If you are careful not to jab your cheek with the claw, you can pick every last bit of meat out, haha. (I went for marinated crab in August too and totally tore up my cheek, lol.)

Spicy marinated crab and whole refill blue crabs

The seasoning seeps right into the crab, making Onggi Kkotgejang’s spicy marinated crab pleasantly spicy and clean-tasting. Both the soy-marinated and spicy marinated versions are absolute rice thieves >.<

For refills, you do not go get them yourself; just ask a staff member and they bring them over. When they are not busy, if they see an empty plate, they even take care of it before you ask ^^

The refill blue crabs are not separately trimmed out of their shells; they come whole like this, so you can simply split open the belly and eat! That also meant there was no need for silly worries like, “Since it is unlimited refills, could these be reused?!” The refill crabs were full inside and delicious too ^^

The seasoning is not salty, and it tastes good without any fishiness—truly a rice thief. With unlimited soy-marinated and spicy marinated crab made from fresh domestic blue crab, you can eat comfortably without feeling burdened, so this is also a great-value Guri marinated-crab restaurant 👍 There was a reason Mom had not forgotten her visit from so long ago ^^
