Seocho Korean restaurant for yangjangpi and gomtang: Chungmusik
In short
Chungmusik is a Korean restaurant near Gyodae Station in Seocho, Seoul. I tried its generous yangjangpi with punchy mustard sauce and its deep, clean special gomtang. Chungmusik is a definite revisit for drinks and a hearty meal.

Guys, do you know what makes a bar truly scary? In my opinion, a truly dangerous bar = an old-school spot, somewhere full of middle-aged guys, and a place famous for daytime drinking^^.. Usually, if you drink somewhere that checks all three boxes, you should assume you will not make it home sober that day. Those who know, know. And if you don't, this post will teach you perfectly haha.
I heard there was a bar by Gyodae Station that perfectly meets all three conditions, so I braced myself and went. I might even be writing this while hungover ^ㅇ^..
Getting to Chungmusik from Gyodae Station Exit 10

It's by Gyodae Station Exit 10!

Turn at Seochowon.

Turn once more at Ten Percent Coffee.

Go into this Mega Coffee building. When you turn at Mega Coffee,

you'll see the building entrance like this. Just come in here!!!

LOL, ah, I can already feel the drinker's instinct kicking in!!!!! The restaurant is inside this shopping arcade!!!!!!!!!

Calm down and head downstairs, and there it is =3
A genuinely old-school interior

Fake old-school vibes, move aside. The real deal is here. I turned into Deok-sun and started filming Reply 1988. There was a small private room inside too, so it looked great for groups. There was even a company dinner going on when I visited!

They even have instructions for enjoying Chungmu gomtang!! Korean beef and octopus. I fully support this combo too.
Chungmusik menu and order

For meals, there are Chungmu gomtang, Chungmu special gomtang, sea squirt yukhoe bibimbap, and special albap (fish roe rice). Sides include octopus and Korean beef suyuk (boiled sliced meat), Chungmusik yukhoe (Korean beef tartare), and tempura. Main dishes are yangjangpi, octopus and Korean beef suyuk hot pot, Chungmu chilled salad, and duruchigi (spicy stir-fry), with extra add-ins available separately!
There are meal dishes as well as drinking snacks, so it would be nice to visit even if you're not drinking haha. Chungmusik is famous for yangjangpi! So I ordered the yangjangpi and Chungmu special gomtang.

Chungmu gimbap (seaweed rice rolls) is seriously expensive lately, but Chungmusik gives it to you for free......😭 It went so well with the seokbakji cubed radish kimchi.

Generous yangjangpi with mustard sauce
First out was the yangjangpi! I thought the bowl was going to burst LOLLLLL. It was generous, with shredded fish cake and all kinds of vegetables like bell pepper, onion, and wood ear mushrooms, plus plenty of octopus and meat.
Adding the mustard sauce. (Actually, after this I just poured the whole thing in LOLLLLL)

Mix it up!!!!!!!!! Now I get why it is famous for yangjangpi... Until now, I thought yangjangpi was simply no more or less than a combination of those ingredients, but at Chungmusik, the synergy between them was insane.. Above all, the mustard sauce was the real kicker!! It had that sharp kick, yet it was so addictive that I kept eating it.

Chungmu special gomtang with octopus, tripe, and beef
Next came the special gomtang. It had octopus, radish, hijiki tofu, tripe, and suyuk in it. The rice was already mixed into the soup too!!!

Pile on the scallions and pepper. The broth was in-sane. The moment you take a bite, you go, “One bottle of soju here, please!!!” LOLLLLL. It was clean but deeply flavorful; I immediately let out a middle-aged-guy-style groan. There was really a generous amount of stuff in it too!!!!!
There was absolutely no gamey smell from the meat or tripe. I don't usually love tofu floating in soup, but Chungmusik's tofu was soft, moist, and nutty, so I kept eating it...♡
Chungmusik.. was the tastiest drinking spot I have had in a while. The table next to me was a group of about six or seven, and they ordered every single drinking dish LOL ㅜㅜ Next time, I'm coming back to try other dishes >_< I am 100% willing to revisit.
