Garak Market fish shop, sea bass trio & boiled pork: Yeongjae Susan
In short
Yeongjae Susan is a raw fish shop on the 1st floor of Garak Mall's Panmae-dong building at Garak Market in Songpa, Seoul. After hearing that sea bass was in season, the writer took home a small platter of large sea bass, olive flounder and red sea bream for 65,000 won and shared it at a family dinner with mom's boiled pork, spicy radish salad and kimbugak (fried seaweed chips), then made spicy fish stew with the stew kit that came with it. Yeongjae Susan's chewy sashimi and rich stew were both good enough for a return visit.

Sea bass, flounder and red sea bream for 65,000 won: was the price fair?
The pick that day at Yeongjae Susan was the small set of large sea bass, large flatfish and large sea bream, for ₩65,000. The price was reasonable and not expensive, so it was easy to buy without worrying.
What to eat, what to eat~~ such a happy dilemma! I heard sea bass is in season right now, so to share with my family I bought the small set of large sea bass, large flatfish and large sea bream.

The owner of Yeongjae Susan also added a stew kit and packed everything super carefully. Off I go to eat it happily!!! 😗🤍

What came with the Yeongjae Susan sashimi takeout
Along with the sashimi, Yeongjae Susan packed a stew kit, pickled scallions (rakkyo), gochujang dipping sauce, wasabi and radish sprouts.

How did the sea bass trio taste with mom's boiled pork and kimbugak?
The sea bass, flatfish and sea bream sashimi from Yeongjae Susan was chewy and fresh, and we ate it at home with mom's boiled pork (suyuk), radish salad and kimbugak (crispy seaweed chips). The belly went surprisingly well with the pork, and the sashimi with the kimbugak.
That day I ate mom's boiled pork and radish salad together with the sashimi from Garak Market's Yeongjae Susan. Seriously, can sashimi really be this chewy and fresh 🤍 The moment I dunked it in the chogochujang and took a bite, so insanely delicious~~ I had the tender belly with the boiled pork, and honestly I recommend it as the sashimi place of my life!! So chewy, it's driving me crazy~~💙
And kimbugak and sashimi together turn out to be a surprisingly good match. Everybody, try kimbugak + sashimi once, haha

How was the spicy fish stew made with Yeongjae Susan's stew kit?
I boiled the stew kit from Yeongjae Susan with plenty of bean sprouts and green onion, and it came out spicy with a rich broth. With a generous amount of clams and fish, it was as satisfying as the sashimi.
The stew was just as great as the sashimi!! The longer you boil it, the better it gets, haha. I added lots of bean sprouts and green onion and it was even spicier and tastier! They gave a generous amount of clams and fish, so the broth was really rich and delicious. Rice stirred in and topped with kkakdugi (diced radish kimchi) is insanely good ❤️ Yeongjae Susan at Garak Market Station is a great spot for the stew too, haha

Is Yeongjae Susan in Garak Market worth a return visit?
The stew, and the sea bass, flatfish and sea bream sashimi: everything was delicious at Yeongjae Susan, a sashimi favorite near Garak Market Station!! I'll definitely visit again!! So tasty, haha ❤️ If you're looking for a seafood place in Garak Market, I recommend Yeongjae Susan!!!
