Is Solsot Sangam Branch a good pot rice spot to take your parents?
Solsot Sangam Branch (솔솥 상암점) is a Korean restaurant in Sangam-dong that serves pot rice (솥밥, rice cooked in an individual iron pot) as one-person trays. I went for the first time on a weekend evening with my parents. The short version: it's a place I'd happily return to whenever I want a healthy Korean meal, and my parents loved it so much haha.
I like pot rice and tend to hunt it down all over, but this was my first visit to Solsot, which is famous as a Sangam dinner spot!

Where is Solsot Sangam Branch, and where do you park?
Solsot Sangam Branch is within 10 minutes of Digital Media City Station, in the building right next to the DMC promotion hall. Since it's near Sangam DMC, it works for office lunches, and it also felt comfortable for a family meal or a date haha.

The menu and prices are posted in front of the shop, so you can decide before you go in haha. There are main pot rice dishes and side dishes!
📍For parking, set your navigation to Sangam DDMC and park in the basement. You get 1 hour of free parking when you eat at Solsot Sangam Branch!
Atmosphere and seating at Solsot Sangam Branch
The inside of Solsot Sangam Branch has wood-toned Korean-style decor and feels clean and pleasant. Even on a weekend evening, customers kept coming in.

The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how tidy and neat everything was. The warm feel of the wood tones made it easy to relax over a meal! The seating works for eating alone and for groups, so it seemed good for all ages. I hear office workers fill it at lunchtime, and in the evening there were quite a few families too!!

Solsot Sangam Branch runs a receipt review event and a rock-paper-scissors event! Join in and grab a croquette, fried shrimp and even a drink~~~!

There's a detailed guide on the table for how to enjoy the pot rice, so have a look ><

The pot rice comes neatly as a one-person tray, so there's no need to share, and I think it's perfect for coworkers dining together lol

What comes with Solsot's steak pot rice?
Steak pot rice is no exaggeration Solsot's signature dish 🤍 It came with the pot rice, a salad, kimchi and salted squid (jeotgal), wasabi and jalapeño, steak sauce, a soup (jangguk) and yogurt. Generous bite-sized slices of steak are piled on top, and I was satisfied from the look alone👍🏻❤️

The steak was more tender than I expected, with juices still in the meat. With the sweet-salty sauce, a spoonful of rice and a piece of meat made a great combination~ Best of all, despite the steak on top it wasn't greasy, so I could enjoy it to the end!

The side dishes and soup balanced well with the pot rice, which was very satisfying. Solsot Sangam Branch has no self-serve bar, so you need to ask for refills!

It's the safest choice for meat lovers, and I'd recommend it to anyone visiting Solsot for the first time! ❤️

Is Solsot's hairtail pot rice a good choice for parents?
Hairtail (갈치, cutlassfish) pot rice is salty yet mild and not overpowering, so it's a must-order if you bring your parents. It was one of the dishes I was most looking forward to, and the moment I opened the lid the savory smell of hairtail rose up. The look and the aroma really got my appetite going ㅠ The fish was deboned nicely so it was easy to eat, and it went really well with the rice!

The fluffy texture of pot rice meeting the flavor of hairtail has a charm totally different from an ordinary grilled fish set meal.. 💛 If you like fish, I really hope you try it. It's deep in flavor without being harsh, so it's a must-order when you visit with your parents haha

Is Solsot's dakgalbi pot rice very spicy?
The dakgalbi pot rice is only mildly spicy, so even people who don't handle spice well can enjoy it, and it was my number one of the three.. ❤️ I ordered it last. Dakgalbi usually brings to mind chicken stir-fried on a hot plate, but meeting pot rice gives it a different charm.
The sweet and spicy seasoning soaks naturally into the rice, and every bite had real depth of flavor ㅠㅠ So good. The chicken wasn't dry either but tender, easy to eat~

It's mild enough for people who can't take spicy food, so I think anyone can enjoy it. Personally, if the hairtail was the mildest, the dakgalbi was the richest in flavor✨ My top pick! The cheese is nutty and really good. This is the real dakgalbi, please try it!

How do you make nurungji at Solsot?
At Solsot Sangam Branch, after you scoop out the rice, you pour the hot water they give you into the pot, and by the time you finish eating you have toasty nurungji (scorched rice tea). Isn't nurungji the real charm of pot rice? After enjoying the main dish, finishing with nurungji makes for a really filling meal. As someone who loves nurungji, this is another favorite moment for me🤍

When is the best time to visit Solsot Sangam Branch?
Solsot Sangam Branch is most satisfying when you're tired of heavy, strongly flavored food and want a filling, clean Korean meal. I liked the warmth of pot rice and the healthy Korean feel, and after eating here I understand why it's known as a Sangam dinner spot. Drop by on a day when you want a hearty meal or clean Korean food :)
