Forest-view café in Goseong: sweet potato latte at Bellemons

In short

Bellemons Cafe is a two-story forest-view café on top of a small hill in Toseong-myeon, Goseong, Gangwon, where floor-to-ceiling windows frame a panoramic view of the woods. On a weekday visit around 2 p.m., the writer tried a strawberry yogurt smoothie, a sweet potato latte and a cream-smothered castella (Japanese-style sponge cake), and even under cloudy skies the forest scenery recalled Ubud in Bali. Bellemons Cafe suits families traveling in Gangwon who want a relaxing forest view instead of an ocean view.

Bellemons Cafe in Goseong is a newly opened café where you can enjoy a panoramic forest view. When you think of cafés in Gangwon, you probably picture ocean views, but Bellemons impressed me with its forest view instead.

Where is Bellemons Cafe in Goseong?

Bellemons is at 22-23 Punggok 2-gil, Toseong-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gangwon. It is open daily 10:00-18:00 and closed on Wednesdays. The restrooms are separated for men and women, and there is Wi-Fi and takeout.

Think of it as sitting on the border between Goseong and Sokcho. It's about a 15-minute drive from downtown Sokcho, and the café sits at the top of a small hill.

Does Bellemons have parking?

Yes, there is a large parking lot in front of the café, so parking is easy.

When did I visit? A weekday around 2 p.m.

Forest café building seen from the Bellemons parking lot

I visited around 2 p.m. on a weekday, at lunchtime. Maybe because it was a weekday, there were hardly any people, which was great for taking photos. I took this one from the parking lot, and from a distance it felt like I had arrived in Bali.

What are the exterior and interior like?

Entrance to the Bellemons Cafe building

Let's head in through the entrance.

Check the opening hours here. The first floor of the Bellemons building is a pension (guesthouse) and the second floor is the café, so I went upstairs.

Modern, clean interior of Bellemons Cafe

Panoramic forest view through the big windows

The interior of Bellemons was modern and clean, as you'd expect from a newly opened place.

Café hall with a panoramic forest view through large windows

Best of all, the large windows let you enjoy the forest view in panorama.

There are plants inside too, so you get a botanical-garden feel at the same time.

Forest view from a window seat on a cloudy day

Wherever you sit, the forest view is charming. It would have been nicer with clearer weather, but a cloudy day has its own charm. The view felt like Southeast Asia.

Rattan-style lighting at Bellemons Cafe

To match the forest, the lighting has a rattan look.

Spacious, airy hall at Bellemons Cafe

The interior is spacious and airy. The floor was shiny, which made the whole place feel even more glamorous.

There is a restroom inside Bellemons, separate from the main hall.

A terrace that recalls Bali's Ubud, and the "royal seats"

I stepped out onto the terrace to take photos too. The view from the Bellemons terrace reminded me of Ubud in Bali, where I went on my honeymoon.

In the hall, the group seating along the far wall is the royal seat. Sitting there and looking out at the forest is healing, and it can comfort a body and mind worn out from work.

Who is Bellemons good for?

Bellemons in Goseong is just right for people on a family trip in Gangwon. Almost every seat faces the forest, so it's a nice place to spend time. On the day I visited, there were families with children too.

What's on the menu, and what did I order?

The menu at Bellemons Cafe is split into drinks/coffee and desserts. Drinks are divided into coffee, lattes, smoothies, ades and teas, and prices are reasonable even though the café has such a good view.

There's a variety of desserts, including castella, cakes and donuts. They all go nicely with coffee.

Colorful Bellemons drinks and castella

The drinks and bread look so showy that I think they'll win over a lot of women.

It's sweet. The cream castella especially goes well with an iced americano. On my way out, I took an iced americano to go.

Overall verdict on Bellemons in Goseong: a forest-gazing healing café

Bellemons Cafe in Goseong is a café where you can truly appreciate a forest view. It sits at the top of a small hill, so green woodland spreads out in front of you at a glance. Enjoying drinks and desserts while looking at open nature made everything feel more relaxed and tastier.

As a newly opened place, the interior is clean and wonderfully open. The drinks and desserts look pretty, so it's good for photos too. There are plenty of seats along the windows with forest views. Just staring blankly at the scenery was healing.

There's group seating as well, so it's a good stop for a family trip or a drive. If you want a relaxed cup of coffee with a beautiful forest view near the Gangwon coast, give it a visit.
