Daegu restaurant for spicy beef soup and self-serve chili: Yukbanjang
Yukbanjang Gwangjanggakoa Gwangko Branch is a yukgaejang (spicy beef soup) restaurant in front of Gwangjang Core, 230m from Exit 2 of Gamsam Station in Dalseo, Daegu. A married couple came for dinner and ordered red yukgaejang at 11,000 won, kalguksu yukgaejang (spicy beef soup with knife-cut noodles) at 11,000 won and a small hanbang suyuk (herbal boiled pork) at 15,000 won, refilling minced cheongyang chili and minced garlic at the self-serve bar. The broth was loaded with shredded beef and the suyuk had no gamey smell, so both dishes were satisfying.
