Here's the exterior of Cafe Dongi, a Korean set-meal spot near Daemyeong Station in Nam-gu, Daegu :)

Even the exterior felt more like a cute café than a rice restaurant, which was a fun surprise :)
There's hutgae tea (Korean raisin tree tea) set out in front of the shop. They've made it so you can take a break and enjoy a cup on a hot day. I could feel the owner's thoughtfulness and it put me in a good mood before I even walked in!

Inside Cafe Dongi: café-style room with solo seats
The inside of Cafe Dongi Daemyeong Station Branch felt more like a café than a Korean rice restaurant. There are 2-tops, 4-tops, group tables, and even single seats for solo diners.

The interior also felt more café than restaurant. Isn't the decor pretty :)
There were tables of every kind — 2-tops, 4-tops, and group seating — and I loved that there were single seats for solo diners too!
What is free at Cafe Dongi: fried eggs, rice, seaweed and barley candy
The self-serve fried egg station
Cafe Dongi's signature perk — self-fry eggs! You fry as many eggs as you want, yourself!
Hutgae tea plus free rice and seaweed refills
Rice refills are unlimited too! And hutgae tea is available, so feel free to enjoy it.
And seaweed — which I love — is unlimited too! Wrapping rice in seaweed is the best side dish ever!
Barley candy for dessert
Next to the water dispenser there's also barley candy set out. Cafe Dongi, a Korean set-meal restaurant in Daemyeong-dong, Nam-gu, Daegu, was a generous place that gave out a lot!

What side dishes come with a Cafe Dongi set meal
The Cafe Dongi Daemyeong Station Branch set meal comes with dried radish, pickled chili, and braised burdock root as the basic side dishes, plus a doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) with tofu and enoki mushrooms as part of the spread. After the meal, they even serve omija tea (schisandra berry tea).
We ordered the Korean set meal.

The side dishes come out neatly arranged on the tray. Dried radish, pickled chili, and braised burdock come as standard!

A savory doenjang jjigae with tofu and enoki mushrooms is also included in the spread.

And such a nice touch — they even serve a sweet-tart omija tea to enjoy after the meal!
After ordering, it only takes a short wait before the whole Korean set meal spread arrives!
Grandma-style jjukkumi stir-fry set, 16,900 won
My husband's order, the grandma-style jjukkumi (stir-fried octopus) set, is 16,900 won. It's loaded with plump baby octopus, delicious dipped in mayonnaise, and my husband raved about it.

This is the grandma-style jjukkumi stir-fry set my husband ordered!

A delicious spread loaded with plump baby octopus!

Dipping it in mayonnaise is so good :) My husband's favorite — the jjukkumi stir-fry!

Best of all, it comes out as a neat full spread, which made us feel well taken care of.
Fire-grilled pork set, 12,900 won
My order, the fire-grilled pork set, is 12,900 won. The jeyuk-bokkeum (stir-fried pork) is grilled over an open flame for a smoky flavor with great depth, and since it comes as a full spread, it seemed like a great choice for taking your parents out too.

This is the fire-grilled pork set I ordered!

Jeyuk-bokkeum grilled over an open flame is the best!

Coming out as a full spread makes it feel even more upscale. A place that seems great for bringing your parents to!

The smoky flavor made the fire-grilled pork stir-fry even more savory! Piling a bite onto your rice is the best!
How big is the 9,900 won mini tangsuyuk?
The mini tangsuyuk sample at Cafe Dongi Daemyeong Station Branch is 9,900 won, and even as a mini portion, it was satisfyingly generous. Crispy outside, tender inside, and the lemon-based sauce was great too.

Crispy outside, tender inside! Even as a mini tangsuyuk, the portion was generous and satisfying. The lemon-based tangsuyuk sauce was great too! Definitely try the mini tangsuyuk :)
