Daegu day trip to Yangsan Oslo Park for porcini gnocchi: Bueokgan

Where is Bueokgan Restaurant Yangsan Oslo Park Branch, and where do you park?

I didn't realize it, but this restaurant has branches in Busan and Gwangju too. Take the escalator up one floor from parking and Bueokgan Restaurant is the big spot right on your left.

Inside Bueokgan: high ceilings and vintage furniture

Let's take a look inside. Bueokgan Restaurant Yangsan Oslo Park Branch is really clean and spacious, as you'd expect from a newly opened restaurant. It's perfect for group gatherings, family outings, or dates. The ceilings are super high and there's a lot of vintage furniture.

There's also a spot with high chairs set up, so it's a good restaurant to bring kids to!

This is the interior near where I sat — overall the decor was so antique and full of character, and this part was totally my style so I had to capture it.

Bueokgan menu and how tablet ordering works

There's tablet ordering, so you can order comfortably right from your seat. The grilled mushroom salad was sold out, which was such a shame ㅠㅠ The pastry soup is also one of my favorite menu items, so I'm definitely coming back to try it next time haha.

Let's take a quick look at the menu — the famous dishes here are the porcini mushroom gnocchi, several kinds of pizza, the napa cabbage Caesar salad, and the kungpao chicken pilaf.

Out of these, I ordered the porcini mushroom gnocchi, the napa cabbage Caesar salad, and the kungpao chicken pilaf.

The napa cabbage Caesar salad arrived, and the toppings and cheese sprinkled on top were really tangy, with the cabbage cooked just right to whet the appetite. And the pickles weren't just regular pickles — they were pink pickles, which hit my personal taste even more.

Kungpao chicken pilaf with sous vide chicken

The kungpao chicken pilaf came out, and since the chicken was cooked sous vide, it fell apart so tenderly, wasn't chewy at all, and melted in my mouth. And the texture of the rice was like nurungji (crispy scorched rice), giving it a slightly crunchy bite that kept me eating without stopping.

This fried rice really hit my taste. There were small chili peppers mixed in, giving it a bit of a spicy kick that cut through the richness right when the mushroom gnocchi started to feel a bit heavy — an amazing combination. No wonder it's a bestseller.

Porcini mushroom gnocchi, the dish to order

This is the mushroom gnocchi — the potato had such a chewy bite that my friend who came with me said it was so good too, and they gave a really generous amount of mushrooms. With the cream sauce coating everything, I kept eating nonstop and ended up scraping the sauce clean. I want to come back just for this gnocchi. I thought I'd tried quite a lot of gnocchi before, but this had such a unique flavor that it felt totally new.
