Daejeon family restaurant with a seaweed soup self-bar: Boksakkot

Boksakkot Pineun Jip Daejeon Branch is a family restaurant on Wongyesan-ro in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, with a large dining room and its own parking lot. On a Sunday evening with a 5-year-old, the mushroom bulgogi hot pot set arrived with a gorgonzola pizza, and the self-serve bar held bowls of rice, seaweed soup and a soda machine, which made feeding a small child easy. The cooking at Boksakkot Pineun Jip is mild rather than spicy, so children and adults can share the same table.

Elephant poop foam experiment at a Daejeon kids' show: Magician JT

Magician JT's Science Lab is a science magic show staged in the small theater of Pyeongsong Youth Culture Center in Seo-gu, Daejeon. A mom and her 5-year-old watched the 2pm show for about 1 hour and 10 minutes, and the "elephant poop" experiment — foam made from hydrogen peroxide and dish soap — was the child's clear favorite. Attention dipped a little midway, but as a fun first taste of science, Magician JT's Science Lab holds up even for a 5-year-old.
