Daejeon family restaurant with a seaweed soup self-bar: Boksakkot

Last Sunday evening, I went for a family dinner with my kid at Boksakkot Pineun Jip Daejeon Branch. When eating out with a child, it's not just about the menu — you're also quietly thinking about whether there's a high chair, whether there's anything the kid will actually eat.

This time we ordered the mushroom bulgogi hot pot set, and it came with a gorgonzola pizza, which was great for sharing with my kid. Is parking easy at Boksakkot Pineun Jip Daejeon Branch?

The first thing that caught my eye when I arrived at Boksakkot Pineun Jip Daejeon Branch was the spacious parking lot. They said if the lot fills up on weekends, there's a back lot you can use too.

When you're going out to eat with a kid, circling around looking for a parking spot wears you out before you've even eaten haha. Having so much parking space made things really easy.

Once we went inside, the dining room at Boksakkot Pineun Jip Daejeon Branch was even bigger than I expected. Lots of tables and a genuinely roomy space — it looked like a good spot for a family dinner or a group meal.

Even on the Sunday evening we visited, there were quite a few other diners there!

We visited with our 5-year-old and ordered the mushroom bulgogi hot pot set.

It came out in a big pot, packed generously with bulgogi (marinated beef), mushrooms, and vegetables.

It's a dish that simmers away right at the table, so it was nice to be able to eat it warm.

Being able to eat the meat, mushrooms, and vegetables all together was pretty good for me and my husband. The flavor wasn't too strong or spicy either, so it felt like a comfortable, easygoing meal for the whole family.

The broth was also nice and savory, good for mixing with rice, and since it's beef bulgogi, it was perfect for feeding our kid 👍🏻

One thing I really liked about the mushroom bulgogi hot pot set was that it came with a gorgonzola pizza.

When eating out with a kid, sometimes you order the adult menu and end up with nothing your kid will actually eat. But with the gorgonzola pizza there, we didn't have to worry separately about what to feed her. My kid ate the pizza just fine, so thanks to that, mom and dad got to eat comfortably too haha.

Self-serve bar: rice, seaweed soup and soda

Another thing I really liked while visiting with my kid was the self-serve bar.

Having both rice and seaweed soup at the self-serve bar of Boksakkot Pineun Jip Daejeon Branch made feeding my kid so much easier. On days when just pizza feels a little light, being able to add rice and seaweed soup too was a really welcome touch for someone visiting with a young child.

They also had a high chair ready, which made it easy to visit with a young child.

And on one side of the self-serve bar there was also a soda machine. My husband loved this one haha. Being able to pour as much as he wanted made him very happy.

In the middle of Boksakkot Pineun Jip Daejeon Branch there was also a kids' room the children could use.

When we visited, it personally felt like it could use a bit of tidying, so my kid didn't end up using it. I'd recommend checking it out in person when you visit and deciding for yourself whether to use it.

Boksakkot has a spacious dining room and plenty of parking, which made it an easy place to visit for a family dinner with a kid. The mushroom bulgogi hot pot set comes with gorgonzola pizza, and the self-serve bar with rice and seaweed soup made feeding my kid that much easier too.
