Hanam Misa ssambap restaurant with table ventilation: Dolsoe Ssambap

The suffocating summer heat is finally heading toward its end. When it's this hot you naturally lose your appetite. So I went to a good-value ssambap (wrap-rice) restaurant that's both healthy and delicious.

Where Dolsoe Ssambap is and when it opens

Dolsoe Ssambap is located at 165 Misagangbyeonhangang-ro, Building A, 2nd Floor, Units 0016-0017, Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do. It's open daily from 11:00 to 21:00, with a break time from 15:00 to 17:00, and last order is at 14:30 and 20:30.

After parking in the underground lot and heading up to the 2nd floor, a spacious dining room appears. I went on a weekday, early evening — basically before people get off work — so there were almost no other customers.

Ventilation at every table and kiosk ordering

Even though it's a ssambap restaurant, Dolsoe Ssambap has a ventilation system at every table so that any food smells don't cling to your clothes — a nice touch.

Ordering is done through a kiosk.

• Bomdong bibimbap ₩2,000 — served with seasoned spring greens, fried egg, and gochujang so you can mix it up alongside the ssambap

I ordered the spicy octopus ssambap set for two. They say the taurine in octopus is great for recovering from fatigue, haha ^^

12 wrap vegetables and 12 side dishes

The vegetables came out neatly arranged.

Cabbage and kelp also came ready for wrapping. At first I thought it was seaweed, not kelp...

Getting to eat all 12 kinds of vegetables is really nice.

Even though there were few dine-in customers before quitting time, I kept hearing delivery order announcements.

How was the spicy octopus ssambap set?

Doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew).

Here's the main dish, spicy stir-fried octopus. The octopus was so tender to chew that my companion was satisfied too.

Seafood ssamjang and mackerel ssamjang. They're generous with the ssamjang portions, plenty for two people.

The steamed egg also came out nicely portioned.

Is Dolsoe Ssambap worth a visit?

Dolsoe Ssambap takes care of your health with plenty of vegetable wraps while still making the side dishes and main dish genuinely enjoyable to eat, so it's a great spot to visit with friends. In this era of high prices, it's also good value for money, so if you like ssambap, I'd recommend giving it a visit.
