In short
Yongsan Donkatsu Onjeong Gyeongyang Sikdang (Yongsan branch) is a handmade Western-style Korean pork cutlet (gyeongyang donkatsu) restaurant on Baekbeom-ro, near Hyochang Park Station in Yongsan, Seoul. A couple ordered one udon and pork cutlet set and one buckwheat soba and pork cutlet set: the set udon came in a full single-order size, the cold soba was topped with a slice of lime, and both came with mushroom cream soup and dinner rolls, all for under ₩30,000 for two. What is Onjeong Gyeongyang Sikdang near Hyochang Park Station?
Onjeong Gyeongyang Sikdang, Yongsan branch is a handmade gyeongyang-sik (Western-style Korean) pork cutlet restaurant near Hyochang Park Station. I always noticed families and solo diners packing the place whenever I walked by, so I finally went to check it out!

The inside of Onjeong is really clean — it feels like a normal, everyday restaurant. When I told my husband we were going for pork cutlet (donkatsu) today, he was so so so happy haha, calling it a soul food for men.

There are also window bar seats for solo diners.

What's on the menu at Onjeong, and how much?
Onjeong has an à la carte pork cutlet menu (2 cutlets) and set menus that come with udon or soba (1 cutlet). Since we wanted both the cutlet and a side (udon or soba), I ordered the udon & gyeongyang-sik pork cutlet, and my husband ordered the buckwheat soba & gyeongyang-sik pork cutlet.
The whole meal for two came to under ₩30,000 — I really liked that!

How much udon comes with the set?
The udon in Onjeong's set isn't a side-dish size — it's a full standalone portion. When the cutlet came out, the thing that surprised me most about Onjeong was the size of the udon. It wasn't the usual small side-udon size at all — it came out completely full-size haha. Big eaters are going to love this portion!

How does Onjeong's gyeongyang-sik pork cutlet taste?
Onjeong's gyeongyang-sik pork cutlet comes drenched in sauce, but the breading still stays crispy. The meat has zero gamey smell, perfectly savory, and the sweet-salty sauce blended flawlessly in the mouth! Every bite exploded with juicy meat and deep sauce flavor, so I kept marveling at it right down to the last piece 🫶🏻

Why such a big cutlet doesn't feel greasy
Onjeong's pork cutlet was genuinely huge, but I could keep eating with zero greasiness, which surprised me. The secret turned out to be meat trimmed fresh that day and fresh oil! They use a steam-injection fryer, which keeps the oil clear for longer, keeps the crispiness consistent, and significantly reduces harmful substances, apparently. Knowing that made even fried food feel like a healthier choice.

Do you also get mushroom cream soup and morning bread?
At Onjeong, the gyeongyang-sik pork cutlet comes with the classic mushroom cream soup and morning bread you can't skip. A rich, smooth cream packed with savory mushroom flavor — the textbook mushroom cream soup! I think a dash of pepper would've made it even better haha. It tastes exactly like the nostalgic flavor from childhood 🙂
And the owner clearly knows what's up, because morning bread comes along with it. You know dipping the bread in the soup is pure bliss〰️ It felt like going back in time for a moment.

Pork cutlet with udon or cold soba — which pairing is better?
Udon & gyeongyang-sik pork cutlet set
Pork cutlet with udon is really a combo that can't fail! The chewy noodles and a sip of hot, deep broth in between perfectly reset the sweet-salty cutlet flavor, so I ate the whole thing to the end without getting tired of it.

Lime cold soba in the buckwheat soba set
My husband's cold soba also passed with flying colors! He really loves lime, and he was super pleased that a slice of lime was on top of Onjeong's cold soba.

Taking a crispy, sweet-salty bite of cutlet and then a sip of cool cold soba broth — the combo is insane. The chilled soba cuts through the cutlet's richness so cleanly that you keep going back for more endlessly. If you like cold food, you have to try this pairing.

Dessert: morning bread with strawberry jam
And then their own little dessert haha — strawberry jam and morning bread, the kind of combo you'd get in a school lunch. Eating it after a long time felt like going back to childhood. It was the perfect sweet finish at the end.
Overall review of Onjeong
It felt great to find a comfortable neighborhood restaurant again. We started by warming up with the soft, savory mushroom cream soup, then treated ourselves to the gyeongyang-sik pork cutlet — crispy and juicy meat with zero gamey smell, coated in that addictive sauce!
With the warm, chewy udon refreshing our palate in between, and the icy cold soba cooling us all the way down, there was never a moment of greasiness! Main dish and sides all hit the perfect balance, so I think I'll be craving this again soon and coming back. I highly recommend Onjeong to anyone looking for a can't-go-wrong gyeongyang-sik pork cutlet restaurant ❤️❤️
