What is the Bogumjip Yongsan Main Branch lunch special?
Bogumjip Yongsan Main Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant near Samgakji Station, but apparently for their lunch special they serve a Japanese-style curry simmered for over 6 hours. I was hunting for a good lunch spot near Samgakji before heading to Yongsan I-Park Mall on the weekend, and found this place! With all sorts of toppings piled on the Japanese curry, I was already so excited for the taste >_<

How to walk from Samgakji Station, and what Bogumjip looks like inside
I got off at Samgakji Station and headed over~ It's close to the station and the sign really stands out, so it was easy to find hahaha. This seems like a great spot for office workers near Samgakji to visit on their lunch break!

The menu is posted outside the restaurant, so it's convenient to pick what you want before going in~!

Inside, there are several 4-person tables! The space isn't huge, but it's no problem for group gatherings or work dinners~~
Bogumjip lunch menu and prices

I ordered Bogumjip's signature curries, the pork cutlet curry (Kabu-ri katsu) and the shrimp cutlet curry, plus a steamed egg~ The pork cutlet is made from 100% gabrisal (pork skirt meat), which apparently makes it soft and savory 🙌 Hearing that description got me even more excited for the pork cutlet curry >_<

They're also running various events, so check them out when you visit!

Included sides: sorbet-chilled radish salad and kimchi jjigae
After ordering, the complimentary sorbet-style radish salad came out~ It was a side dish I'd never heard of before so it felt a bit unfamiliar, but it paired really well with the curry and cutlet! Fried food like the cutlet can get greasy, but the radish salad cut right through that and made everything feel clean 👍

At Bogumjip, even when you order curry, you get kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) as a standard side! Usually curry comes with a light broth, but maybe because Bogumjip is a BBQ restaurant, kimchi jjigae comes standard instead hahaha. Eating the spicy, tangy kimchi jjigae in between bites of cutlet curry completely cut through the richness 😆
And the steamed egg I ordered alongside the curry! It's warm and incredibly soft, like egg pudding~~! Since both the curry and the kimchi jjigae were so rich, having the soft steamed egg alongside them was really nice.

How does the kaburi katsu (pork collar cutlet) curry taste?
Bogumjip's main curry! The pork cutlet curry! A Japanese-style curry simmered for over 6 hours, topped with a gabrisal pork cutlet >_< The pork cutlet was incredibly tender, definitely different from a regular pork cutlet! Eating the rice, curry, and cutlet all together was such a great combination 🙌 Pairing it with the sorbet-style radish salad was delicious too~~

How many shrimp come in the shrimp cutlet curry?
Next up, the shrimp cutlet curry! Five plump, generously stuffed shrimp cutlets sit on top of the curry~~! The shrimp were so plump the texture was fantastic. The shrimp cutlet and curry went really well together too 💛
Is Bogumjip Yongsan Main Branch worth it for lunch near Samgakji?
I visited Bogumjip Yongsan Main Branch because it was so unique to see a BBQ restaurant selling curry as a lunch special~! You could tell the owner put real care into the menu, because the curry was incredibly rich and delicious 🙌 The toppings on the curry were great too, and the sorbet-style radish salad paired with it really well.
