I visited Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon Seongsan Ilchulbong Branch (제주로운청해원 성산일출봉점) for braised hairtail on the east side of Jeju. It is near Seongsan Ilchulbong and Aqua Planet, making it conveniently located for a meal during a trip.

Location, parking, and reservations
The restaurant is at 101 Sinyang-ro in Seongsan-eup, Seogwipo. It is close not only to Seongsan Ilchulbong but also to Seopjikoji and Aqua Planet. When I visited, I was able to park in front of the restaurant.

Nearly all the tables inside were occupied. I had made a reservation through Naver, so I was seated right away without waiting.

What was included in the braised hairtail set?
There were set menus and individual dishes. I liked the set because ordering just one dish felt limiting, while ordering several dishes separately felt like too much.

I ordered the two-person A set, which came with braised hairtail and haemul ttukbaegi (seafood hot pot).

The banchan (side dishes) came out first. They included fried fish and gejang (marinated crab), so the spread already felt substantial before the main dishes arrived.

Braised hairtail seasoning and stone-pot rice
The braised hairtail had a clean-tasting seasoning that went well with rice.

The rice came as dolsotbap (stone-pot rice). I ate the freshly cooked warm rice with the braised hairtail.

I also made nurungji (scorched rice) in the stone pot. Finishing with the nurungji made the meal feel filling.

For my taste, the braised hairtail seasoning was neither overly spicy nor sweet. It was gently spicy and savory, and the seasoning had soaked well into the thoroughly cooked radish. I picked apart the thick hairtail flesh and placed it over rice with the radish.

How was the seafood hot pot?
The seafood hot pot included with the A set was generously filled with seafood, including crab and shrimp.

The seafood hot pot had a refreshing broth. Having a soup dish alongside the braised hairtail made for a good combination.

A meal during a family trip
There were many family travelers in the restaurant when I visited. The dishes I had were not strongly seasoned, so I thought it could be worth considering for a meal with family.

Besides braised hairtail, the menu included grilled tilefish, sea urchin seaweed soup, and black pork duruchigi (spicy stir-fry). I liked being able to choose Jeju local dishes as a set.

They refilled the side dishes when we needed more. With the braised hairtail, seafood hot pot, stone-pot rice, and side dishes, I had a filling meal.
Are there options for breakfast?
Because it opens early in the morning, I thought it could also be a good stop for breakfast after seeing Seongsan Ilchulbong. With dishes such as sea urchin seaweed soup and grilled fish, it looked like a reasonable choice for a warm breakfast.

What stayed with me from this meal was the gently spicy braised hairtail and the refreshing broth of the seafood hot pot. It was a satisfying combination when I wanted to have both dishes near Seongsan.
