Jongno sashimi restaurant for aged sashimi and raw shrimp: Suksseong
In short
Suksseong Susan Jongno Main Branch is an aged-sashimi restaurant on the 3rd floor of a building 285 meters from Exit 4 of Jongak Station in Jongno, Seoul. The writer ordered the aged sashimi for two, made with fish aged at low temperature for over 24 hours, and the raw shrimp sashimi. The aged sashimi was soft to chew with umami that built up, while the raw shrimp sashimi was springy and chewy, so alternating between them was fun. With 120 seats, partitions at every table and free corkage, Suksseong Susan is a good fit for drinks or a team dinner.

When I want a proper glass of something in Jongno with real sashimi — not just live-fish sashimi but something with a deeper flavor — this place is pretty good!
This time I visited Suksseong Susan Jongno Main Branch 🖤
We ordered the aged sashimi for two and raw shrimp sashimi that day! You can enjoy sashimi, seafood, and a variety of side dishes together, so it works well as a drinking spot too 🫧🤍 What stood out was being able to try sashimi aged at low temperature for over 24 hours — here's my review of this Jongno sashimi spot :-)

Suksseong Susan Jongno Main Branch location — 285m from Jongak Station Exit 4, 3rd floor
Walk about 285m from Exit 4 of Jongak Station on Line 1 and a flashy building greets you — the restaurant is on the 3rd floor!

Just head up the stairs!

A cute Suksseong Susan mascot welcomes you and it already gets you excited

Turns out Suksseong Susan also runs lunch service 👀

Inside the 120-seat restaurant with partitions
Suksseong Susan Jongno Main Branch overall had a clean yet comfortable vibe, great for a drink or two 🍶

With 120 seats total, the space is on the larger side, and I liked that every table has a partition so you don't have to worry as much about the next table
It seemed like a good spot for anything from a date for two to a friends' gathering, family dinner, or company dinner!

Menu lineup and free corkage
Suksseong Susan has aged sashimi as well as pasta, fried dishes, stews, and more, so there's a wide range of options even if you visit with a group!
Another feature is the free corkage policy ✔️ It seems like a great option for anyone who wants to bring their favorite wine, whiskey, or sake to enjoy alongside the aged sashimi haha. This could also be pretty appealing for anyone looking for a spot for a group dinner or gathering 💖

First, here's the basic side dishes haha

Aged sashimi for two — soft texture and subtle umami
What we ordered as the main dish that day was the aged sashimi for two + raw shrimp sashimi!

First, the aged sashimi has a bit of a different charm from live-fish sashimi!

When I actually tried it, the sashimi was soft to chew with subtle umami rising up!

The sashimi is delicious on its own, but eating it with the accompaniments to your taste made it a perfect drinking snack too 💯
Raw shrimp sashimi — springy, chewy texture
The raw shrimp sashimi we ordered alongside the aged sashimi also exceeded expectations haha

It had a springy yet chewy texture, and switching back and forth with the aged sashimi made for a fun contrast — the flavors were clearly different!
Eating only sashimi the whole time could get a bit monotonous, but adding the raw shrimp sashimi let us enjoy a variety of seafood textures at once 💗
It's especially good to eat slowly with a drink, so I'd recommend it as a menu for an evening drinking session
Overall verdict — a good spot for aged sashimi in Jongno
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This time at Suksseong Susan Jongno Main Branch we tried the aged sashimi for two and raw shrimp sashimi, and overall both the texture and the composition of the sashimi were satisfying haha
In particular, it was great to be able to taste the soft texture and umami unique to aged sashimi, which is different from live-fish sashimi. If you're someone who loves sashimi, it could be fun to try comparing the two at least once 🫧
The restaurant also had partitions at every seat, which made conversation easy, and the space itself was spacious enough to work well for drinks with friends, a date, or a company dinner!
If you're looking for somewhere in Jongno that offers more than the typical sashimi restaurant — a place where you can enjoy aged sashimi along with a variety of seafood dishes — I'd recommend Suksseong Susan Jongno Main Branch 💯
