I went to Backstreet Pizza while hunting for a good pizza place in Haenggung-dong, Suwon 🍕 The Shrimp Gangster I had was piled with plump shrimp, no skimping at all, so shrimp lovers will be happy 🍤 Maybe it's because they make everything by hand, from the dough to the sauce, but it was really good ☻

Backstreet Pizza is open every day from 12:00 to 23:00, with last order at 22:00. It's a 10-minute walk from Haenggung-dong, and there's no parking at the restaurant, so you'll need a public parking lot. The address is 13 Jeongjo-ro 900beon-gil, Paldal-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi, South Korea (2nd floor).

It's close to Haenglidan-gil, and Backstreet Pizza is up on the second floor!

The place is packed with American vintage vibes! There are tables for 2 to 4 people, so it's perfect for a date or for coming with friends.

The white kimchi (baek-kimchi, non-spicy kimchi) and cucumber pickles that come as standard at Backstreet Pizza were really good too. The white kimchi is cool and crunchy, so it's super for cleansing your palate between slices of pizza.

There's Parmesan cheese and hot sauce, plus water, small plates and napkins, all neatly set out so you can help yourself to as much as you need.

How do Shrimp Gangster and Mushroom Bang half & half taste?

What I ordered at Backstreet Pizza was the ₩37,000 half & half, the Shrimp Gangster & Mushroom Bang combo!

It looks delicious just sitting there! The Shrimp Gangster has plump shrimp, and the Mushroom Bang is loaded with mushrooms and rich, nutty cheese! I liked that half & half lets you enjoy both flavors in one go.

Shrimp Gangster: plump shrimp with a slight kick

The moment I took a bite, plump shrimp were rolling around in my mouth. It's a little spicy, and the sauce and shrimp go really well together. Next time I'm ordering a whole Shrimp Gangster, haha.

Mushroom Bang: even better dipped in garlic sauce

The Mushroom Bang is topped with lots of different mushrooms. Chewy, with a deep mushroom aroma! Personally, since I ate the Shrimp Gangster first, the Mushroom Bang tasted a bit mild, but dipped in the garlic sauce that came with it, it was much better. My top pick is the shrimp-loaded Shrimp Gangster 😎

Is Backstreet Pizza worth it for a pizza date in Haenggung-dong, Suwon?

If you're looking for a good place to eat in Suwon, I'd happily recommend Backstreet Pizza. The Haenggung-dong atmosphere made it great for a date, and photo spots are all over the restaurant, so taking pictures was fun too, hahaha.

Above all, they pile on the toppings generously, so even one slice felt hearty, and the dough was crispy yet chewy, so I enjoyed it to the last bite. Living up to its reputation as a Haenggung-dong pizza place, the Shrimp Gangster is loaded with plump shrimp, so shrimp fans will be satisfied!! The Mushroom Bang was mild and tasty too, but personally the Shrimp Gangster, with its punchy savory flavor, is my top pick 🍤

With both atmosphere and taste covered, I recommend it to anyone looking for a pizza place in Suwon or planning a date course. Satisfaction was high as a Suwon date spot too, haha.
