How did we end up at Daegang near Seokchon Lake?

Daegang is an aged sashimi pub with a patio on Songni-dan-gil, near Seokchon Lake. After a trip to Lotte World Mall in Jamsil, I wanted dinner and a drink near the lake, so I searched for sashimi pubs on Songni-dan-gil and ended up at Daegang, which has a patio.

Daegang is a 10-minute walk from Exit 1 of Seokchon Station, close to Seokchon Lake. All the shops around here have patios, so the street felt fresh and new to me.

Do you need to come early for a Daegang patio seat?

The seats on Daegang's outdoor patio differ a bit in style and they're popular, so I'd grab one early. From outside, the patio and facade look so pretty it feels like a café, and once it gets dark the lighting gives it a hip vibe. Take note if you're looking for a patio sashimi pub.

Daegang's indoor atmosphere and seating

Inside, Daegang has 4-person tables and bar seats, and it feels sleek, modern and cozy, quite different from the patio. It looks good for friends, dates, gatherings and company dinners. The air conditioning was blasting, so it was cool and comfortable.

I spotted infused liquor jars and bottles here and there, which was fun, and even the water comes in a whisky bottle at Daegang.

You order easily by QR code, and the menu has plenty of variety.

The 380ml Terra draft beer was so cold and refreshing that it went down way too easily.

Is Daegang's ₩29,000 small mixed aged sashimi enough for two?

Daegang's signature small mixed aged sashimi platter is ₩29,000, and it was plenty for two. It comes with garlic, chili, radish sprouts, lemon, wasabi, chojang (sweet chili vinegar sauce) and makjang (seasoned soybean paste), and the thickly sliced aged fish includes seasonal sashimi such as salmon, flounder, sea bream, mullet and Gampo flounder. The decoration and plating were pretty too.

Quality like this for ₩29,000?! Isn't that a great deal? The lineup changes with the season, and I liked what we got that day. The aged sashimi was chewy, with sweetness, rich umami and great texture. The portion was big, so two people were completely fine.

Adding sushi rice to the aged sashimi

I ordered sushi rice at Daegang to make my own sushi, and it came out as one big lump, like a rice ball.

How is Daegang's ₩11,000 grilled chicken?

I ordered Daegang's grilled chicken because ₩11,000 seemed like good value. Plump thigh meat is grilled crispy with butter on top and served with a Cheongyang chili soy sauce. The chicken pieces were big and super tender.

Daegang's ₩3,000 yagwanmun liquor: what does it taste like?

Daegang's yagwanmun liquor is ₩3,000 a glass and comes as a whisky shot. The ₩3,000 sign on the wall caught my eye, so I tried it. It was my first time, and it tasted like... herbal medicine? If you need some stamina or you're just curious about the taste, it's worth a try.
