Manga café date at Sports Complex Station: Disney+ room, One Play

A happy record of last week :-) I took a half day off the day before a holiday weekend to rest a bit longer. I had naengmyeon (cold noodles) for lunch near Sports Complex Station, and with time to kill before dinner and the weather so hot and humid, I spent 3 hours relaxing and playing at the Jamsil manga café One Play Jamsil Branch!

What is One Play Jamsil Branch like?

One Play Jamsil Branch is a manga café in Jamsil where you can enjoy not just manga but board games, Nintendo and OTT too. It's close to both Sports Complex Station and Saenae Station, so it's really easy to get to :)

I'd never been to a manga café, so I was curious about everything. Since you can do all of this in one place, it seemed perfect for 2–3 hours.

You change into indoor slippers on the 2nd floor, then head up to the 3rd floor! The wall along the stairs is decorated with traditional mother-of-pearl (jagae) patterns, the kind I used to see at my grandmother's house, which felt really unusual and charming!

The 3rd floor of One Play Jamsil Branch is the manga reading area, the place where you pick up food, and the payment counter. It really looks like a proper café, with a truly wide range of manga, plus sofas and tables for relaxed reading and cafe-style wooden tables for two. A lovely spot to take your time with manga :-)

From reviews, I found that if there's a wait, you can wait comfortably on the 3rd floor (this isn't included in the hourly rate).

There's also a variety of cakes, and the coffee is made with tasty beans, so this Jamsil manga café lets you enjoy coffee and dessert while you read.

How much does One Play Jamsil Branch cost?

On weekdays the base rate at One Play Jamsil Branch is ₩4,000 per hour (₩800 for each extra 10 minutes). Even better, ₩10,000 gets you unlimited time, so if you're staying 2.5 hours or more on a weekday, the ₩10,000 unlimited pass is definitely the better deal!

On weekends and holidays you use package plans of 1, 2, 3 or 5 hours with a drink included, which is good value :-) Drinks run about ₩4,000–5,000, so the packages aren't bad at all ><

You pay after you're done playing, before you get your shoe key. When you choose a plan, they hand you a fascinating card, and when you touch it to your phone (not a QR code, just a touch,,,) you can order food and see board game explanations,,,, so cool

Watching Disney+ in the 2nd-floor OTT room

On the 2nd floor of One Play Jamsil Branch you can watch OTT services like Netflix, TVING and Disney+, and Nintendo and board games are all available too! It's a manga café, but there's more to do here than just manga.

Upstairs there were really lots of rooms for watching OTT across the 1st and 2nd floors, and the sign in front of each room lists which OTT services it has. Honestly, we came to enjoy Disney+, which we'd already cancelled our subscription to, so we went straight into a room with Disney+ ><

We had about 4 hours before our dinner reservation, so we chose the Snowflake plan (3 hours + iced tea OR Americano: ₩14,900) and ordered an iced Americano and an iced café latte (₩500 extra) :-)

How big was the OTT room, and how was the sound?

The OTT room at One Play Jamsil Branch was much cozier (read: smaller) than I expected, and since the projector screen works like a wall closing off the room, it felt like a mini cinema. With tasty drinks on top, it's even more comfortable than a movie theater.

We watched a Japanese movie we'd wanted to see on Disney+, but its sound was so quiet that we struggled,,,,, Even with the volume maxed out we couldn't hear the dialogue and wondered what was going on; I think it was a problem with Disney+ or the movie itself. (When we switched to Netflix later, it was so loud it startled me, hahahaha)

After the movie, we binged Boss Kim too. We're old,,,,,,,,,,, so we just watched OTT for over 2.5 hours, but One Play Jamsil Branch was full of really young people.

Besides teens and people in their 20s, there were soldiers who seemed to be on leave and their girlfriends, and lots and lots of kids playing board games and consoles in their rooms!!!! On a sweltering summer day, this Jamsil manga café seemed perfect as a date spot or indoor hangout.

What's on the food menu at One Play Jamsil Branch?

Beyond drinks, One Play Jamsil Branch has a huge variety of food you can enjoy while watching OTT or playing board games, like chicken, tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), rice bowls and ramyeon. Everyone seemed to be ordering lots of food, so I touched the card from the 3rd floor to my phone to browse the menu~

We had a dinner reservation so we didn't eat here, but reviews say the food is good enough to call it a great snack-bar spot, so it'd be nice to come hungry, eat, read manga and play games~

When it's rainy, hot and muggy like lately, I recommend One Play Jamsil Branch as a fun, comfortable indoor date spot in Jamsil :-)
