What did I buy at Chamsae Bori near Bucheon Station?
At Chamsae Bori Sikppang, Bucheon main branch (참새보리식빵 부천본점), I bought all three loaves, Daesang Chalbori, Rye Chalbori and Grain Chalbori, and grabbed a financier too, haha. I love bread, so this time I wanted to try something a little special and headed to the shop near Bucheon Station! It's a specialist in barley loaves, different from ordinary white-flour sandwich bread, so I was curious.

What kind of bakery is Chamsae Bori?
Chamsae Bori is a barley bread specialist near Bucheon Station. It's also known as a place featured on SBS's Master of Living (생활의 달인), so I was looking forward to it before I even arrived!
Unlike a regular bakery with all kinds of loaves on display, Chamsae Bori focuses on just three signature loaves, which impressed me. Because there aren't many, I got even more curious about how each one differs in taste and texture.
If you like the nutty, savory taste of barley or want a meal bread to eat every day, this place is worth a look.

Daesang Chalbori: price and what to pair it with
Chamsae Bori's Daesang Chalbori (대상찰보리) is ₩6,000. It's the first loaf I'll introduce! The name alone sounds like the signature item, so I really wanted to try it.
You might expect barley bread to be a bit dry or coarse, but I think its charm is that nutty barley flavor and texture. I liked that you can enjoy the bread itself without fancy toppings or sweet cream.
Daesang Chalbori would be good with jam or butter, and I think it would also suit a breakfast with milk or coffee.

How much is Rye Chalbori and how should you eat it?
Second is Rye Chalbori (호밀찰보리). It's ₩3,700, the most affordable of the three loaves.
Since it's made with rye and barley, I figured it has a different appeal from plain white bread. If you like the nutty, mild flavor of rye, this is one to be curious about.
It's fine as is, but I think a little fresh cream or jam would widen the flavor combinations. It also suits sandwich fillings or toasting.

What goes into Grain Chalbori?
Last is Grain Chalbori (곡물찰보리)! It's ₩6,500, and according to the shop's menu description, it contains various grains and roasted walnuts.
Of the three, I think it suits people who want the flavor of many grains. The chew should be different from ordinary bread too. With nutty grain flavor plus the texture of walnuts, it wouldn't be boring plain, and I think it would be good toasted as well.
Personally, when I buy a loaf I sometimes eat it as is and sometimes make a meal of it with eggs or vegetables. Grain Chalbori struck me as versatile in that way.

Is the Chamsae Bori financier worth adding?
It felt a shame to buy only loaves at Chamsae Bori, so I brought home a financier (a small French almond-butter cake) too, haha. Getting plain, meal-friendly bread plus a sweet baked treat felt like proper bread shopping.
A financier is a dessert that goes well with coffee, so it has a different charm from the loaves. Bread in the morning, then coffee and a financier in the afternoon sounds nice.

Who is Chamsae Bori near Bucheon Station for?
I think Chamsae Bori suits people looking for meal bread with the nutty flavor of barley and grains rather than sweet, showy pastries. This time I bought all three loaves, Daesang Chalbori, Rye Chalbori and Grain Chalbori, and I liked that each differs in price and ingredients, so you can choose to your taste.

Adding a financier meant I got meal bread and dessert in one go, haha. If you're after a different kind of loaf near Bucheon Station, Chamsae Bori is worth a visit at least once!
Next time I want to toast the loaves or have them with jam and butter and enjoy each one's charm even more.
