Do you ever just get a sudden craving for Western food?? That day I really wanted a thick rosé pasta and a steak!?

I thought of a neatly plated, generous Western-style spread, so off I went!

It was about a 5-minute walk from Exit 3 of Banghak Station, so it wasn't hard to find! It's just tucked a bit inside an alley, so first-timers should check a map on the way~!

Inside Normal Salon: atmosphere and seating

The interior is done up with a lot of style, so it'd be great for a date or a group of friends~! Right when you walk in, there are two 4-seat tables and one 2-seat table on the right, and on the left there are two room-style spaces! The restroom is also inside! The vibe is quiet and private, so the left-side spaces would be great for a small gathering too.

I had wine and beer that day, but it's a place with enough atmosphere that you could come without drinking at all — good for a date or just a casual dinner!

What we ordered at Normal Salon

Here's what I ordered!

🧀 Gnocchi 🥩 Striploin steak pasta 🍗 Chicken leg BBQ 🍷 One glass of wine 🍺 One draft beer

The menu was more varied than I expected.

There were quite a lot of drink options too, so it was a happy dilemma figuring out what to pick haha

I ordered one glass of wine and one draft beer to go with the food haha!

The appetizer: chicken-leg-shaped crackers

As a pre-meal appetizer, they brought out chicken-leg-shaped crackers lol, so creative

Wet my whistle with some beer and chicken crackers before getting into the real food!~! 🍺

This was genuinely happiness... ♥

You can help yourself to as much pickled radish and sauce as you need from here. And for the sauce, you don't portion it out separately — just take the whole container and use it~!

How does the striploin steak pasta taste?

And now, the moment we've been waiting for — the striploin steak pasta!! 🍝🥩 There's a generous, delicious-looking steak piled on top of the pasta! A steak, of course, has to be golden brown on the outside and just slightly pink inside — medium is life!!

You could really taste the meat's flavor, and the inside stayed moist with a tender bite. Eating the pasta noodles together with the steak, the meaty aroma and salty flavor came together perfectly — in a word, so good,,, There were shiitake mushrooms and tomato in there too, and biting into the mushrooms here and there added extra savoriness to the pasta!

The chicken leg meat was really tender too! The meat was so soft it was easy to eat, and I loved the little touch of making a handle so you could eat it without getting your hands messy :D

A plate of chewy gnocchi

What is gnocchi, exactly?

I found myself wondering, what exactly is gnocchi again~? So out of curiosity I ordered some after a long while! Gnocchi (Italian-style dumplings made from mashed potato dough) is basically like Italian sujebi, if that helps you picture it! One bite in, it had a chewy yet fluffy texture, a different kind of charm from regular pasta~!

Is Normal Salon worth a visit? Final verdict

Overall the food was tasty and the vibe was good, so it was a really enjoyable meal at Normal Salon! In particular, the striploin steak pasta was satisfying because you get to eat the meat and the pasta together haha

If you're looking for a good-vibe Western-style restaurant near Banghak Station, it'd be worth stopping by for a date or a get-together with friends. Next time I visit, I want to try the other menu items one by one! Definitely a place I'll come back to,,, bb
