Mangwon Station bossam spot, ₩54,000 dinner for two: Pyeongidambaek
In short
Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch is a bossam (boiled pork wraps) and bone kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant on Yanghwa-ro 7-gil in Mapo, Seoul, near Exit 1 of Mangwon Station. Around Memorial Day, two women joined the dinner opening rush and ordered the medium bossam suyuk (₩42,000) and bone kalguksu (₩12,000) for ₩54,000 in total; the thick-cut pork with its chewy fat and the hand-pulled-style noodles stood out. Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch serves no kimjang kimchi or dried radish with its bossam, but it suits anyone who wants boiled pork with great texture.

Why did I end up at Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch?
I picked Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch for a quick dinner while making plans near Mangwon Station. There's a Japanese bakery nearby that ONF's Japanese member U loves, and when I looked into going, I found the famous Hapjeong bossam spot, Pyeongidambaek, right in front of it, so we decided to meet there. Today too, Pina, happy about meat, is off with a friend to get some Hapjeong suyuk (boiled pork), let's goooo~
Getting to Pyeongidambaek from Mangwon Station
Get off at Mangwon Station on Line 6 and walk inside from Exit 1, and you'll see the restaurant (about 427 m from Exit 1). It's open daily from 11:00 to 22:00, with a break from 15:00 to 17:00. But was there a game or event at the World Cup Stadium for Memorial Day, with everyone in red? The Line 6 train toward Eungam (the loop) was so packed I thought I'd get squashed. Hahaha~

Still, I pushed my way through the crowd and made it out. The station was so busy that I think I waited in line for the women's restroom for ages. I usually use the restroom when I arrive at Mangwon Station, but the line is always like this, so I'd recommend going somewhere other than the Mangwon Station restroom.

Dinner opening rush and the 10% discount at Pyeongidambaek
I knew Pyeongidambaek was a hit for its bone hangover soup, so my friend and I decided to do the dinner opening rush. Reading the sign at the entrance about 10% off for firefighters, soldiers and police officers made my heart swell and feel proud. What a kind owner.

How much did two women eat at Pyeongidambaek?
The two of us ordered the medium bossam suyuk (₩42,000) and bone kalguksu (₩12,000), and the total came to ₩54,000. And the happy news: they've started serving kongguksu (cold soybean noodle soup), my favorite! Neighbors, are you team sugar or team salt on kongguksu? I'm a total two-spoons-of-sugar person. But today I came for meat, so I'm having the medium suyuk at ₩42,000. The ₩12,000 bone kalguksu my friend was curious about was added too, but shh, that's a secret.

Pyeongidambaek medium bossam suyuk: taste and what comes with it
What stood out about the bossam suyuk here was its thick texture, as if the pork had been sliced roughly. There's no lettuce or dried radish or kimjang kimchi like I had imagined, but the fat is chewy, so it should be just right for people who like texture.

The medium suyuk came out looking exactly like the photo on the wall. It's ₩42,000, the fatty pork is cooked mild and plain, and it comes with 8 cabbage wraps. If you want more cabbage wraps, it's ₩2,000 extra, so keep that in mind.

I tore a big cabbage leaf into 3 parts and ate it in bites. Lately I've been trying to eat more vegetables, so I boil napa cabbage hearts, green lettuce and cabbage at home, and it's funny that cabbage showed up in this dinner too.

Is the bone kalguksu worth adding at Pyeongidambaek?
Most of the many customers coming in were eating bone kalguksu, so I got curious and we added the ₩12,000 bone kalguksu as our meal. The meat was mild and the noodles seemed hand-pulled, and it was really good. After eating it all up, we each bought a bag of bread at a nearby bakery to take home, and I felt so accomplished on the way back. Hehehe~
So that's the story of Pina's dinner of Hapjeong suyuk at Pyeongidambaek. I used to come to Mangwon often to meet ONF and Oh My Girl fans and go to birthday cafés, so it made me feel nostalgic. If you're visiting this area, kind neighbors, please do stop by here.
