Wood-fired pizza in Mapo, Seoul: Pizzeria O Hapjeong Station
In short
Pizzeria O Hapjeong Station is a compact wood-fired pizza restaurant about a five-minute walk from Exit 2 of Hapjeong Station in Mapo, Seoul. I shared Sei Formaggi, Margherita Bufala, ricotta salad, and white wine with friends; the chewy dough and crisp fried dough with the salad stood out. It filled up shortly after our noon weekend reservation.

How do you get there from Hapjeong Station?
I met friends in Hapjeong and went to Pizzeria O Hapjeong Station (핏제리아오 합정역점), a restaurant specializing in wood-fired pizza. It is about a five-minute walk into an alley from Exit 2 of Hapjeong Station.

The sky-blue exterior stood out, so it was easy to find. I thought it was in a convenient spot for lunch or dinner after spending time near Hapjeong Station or Mangwon Station.

Do you need a reservation for a weekend meal?
The interior was fairly compact. I made a reservation through Naver and visited at noon on a weekend, and it filled up soon afterward. Based on when I visited, I think it would be a good idea to reserve ahead for weekend meal times or groups of four or more.

What did we choose to eat with friends?
There were many kinds of wood-fired pizza, so my friends and I spent a while choosing. We also looked at the chef's career introduction displayed in the restaurant.

After some discussion, we ordered the Sei Formaggi and Margherita Bufala wood-fired pizzas, along with ricotta salad. We had white wine with them.

What did the Sei Formaggi taste like?
The Sei Formaggi came first. It was topped with several kinds of cheese and Kalamata olives. On my first bite, I noticed the chewiness of the dough and the savory richness of the cheese.

It tasted even better dipped in honey. I had chosen it, and the friends I was with said it was delicious and that I had chosen well.

How was the Margherita Bufala?
We all agreed on ordering the Margherita Bufala. It was a pizza with Grana Padano, buffalo cheese, and basil.

The ingredients tasted fresh, and the dough was chewy and savory. To my taste, it was an easy choice to share with a group.

How were the salad and wine with the pizza?
The ricotta salad was a good choice when I wanted fresh vegetables alongside the pizza and something a little more filling.

The house-made ricotta salad included vegetables, nuts, and white balsamic sauce. What I especially remembered was the fried dough. It was crisp outside and chewy inside, and I kept reaching for it with the salad.

The white wine was served sufficiently chilled and went well with the pizza. It was a nice place to eat with friends, and the compact, cute atmosphere made me want to come back with my partner next time.
