Eel buffet with partitioned seats in Jijok-dong, Daejeon: Songrimbok
In short
Songrimbok Jangeo Unlimited Eel Daejeon Direct Store (송림복장어) is a newly opened all-you-can-eat freshwater eel restaurant in Jijok-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon. For ₩29,000 per adult, the writer grilled eel, pork belly and chicken neck from the self-serve bar for 2 hours, got a free bokbunja (Korean black raspberry wine) as an opening event, and finished with buckwheat makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles). Despite low expectations for a buffet, the thick, glossy eel was a real surprise, making Songrimbok Jangeo a good-value pick for an eel group dinner.

The weather's getting hot and that low-energy season is coming up, T_T and I was feeling it too! So I needed a recovery boost... and what comes to mind for stamina? Eel! I heard a place had just opened in Jijok-dong where you can eat quality eel all-you-can-eat, so I went to Songrimbok Jangeo Unlimited Eel Daejeon Direct Store~~
Where is Songrimbok Jangeo, and what are the hours and parking?
Songrimbok Jangeo Unlimited Eel Daejeon Direct Store is at 60 Jijokbuk-ro 66beon-gil, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, South Korea, 1F Units 106 and 107, 900 m from Banseok Station Exit 2. It's open daily 11:50 - 23:00.
- Location: 60 Jijokbuk-ro 66beon-gil, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, 1F Units 106 and 107 (900 m from Banseok Station Exit 2!)
- Hours: daily 11:50 - 23:00
- Parking: there's a dedicated lot right in front~~ they say 2 hours are covered!
- The restroom is outside!
Honestly, it's all-you-can-eat so I went with no expectations, but the eel quality was good, so I'm recommending it. Please read to the end, haha!
What are the interior and seats like?

Maybe because it just opened, the Jijok-dong location is clearly roomy and clean, which caught my eye! There's a vent at every seat, and even though they aren't private rooms, the partitions add privacy, which I liked.

It's all-you-can-eat, so the time limit is 2 hours. Even with drinks, 2 hours was plenty, haha.
How much is the eel buffet at Songrimbok Jangeo?

The buffet is ₩29,000 for adults and ₩14,000 for children! The table setting fee is ₩3,000. Eel is an expensive food, right? Unlimited quality eel for the ₩30,000 range is a top value restaurant, I think! We ordered 2 adults plus buckwheat makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles)!
What's at the Songrimbok Jangeo self-bar?

The self-bar has eel, pork belly and chicken neck, and the staff keep refilling the food. The first tray comes with a bit of each, and after that you fetch whichever meat you want. The food is well covered with lids, so hygiene looks good too.

Even from the outside, the eel looks amazing, right? Eel is the main, but if you come with kids who can't eat eel, there's pork belly and chicken neck for them too, haha.

Side dishes include lettuce and garlic for wraps, ginger (?) that eel can't go without, and washed aged kimchi! Sauces range from ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste) that suits pork belly to a teriyaki sauce made for eel!
How does the eel taste, and what are the side dishes?

As an opening event, they served bokbunja wine (Korean black raspberry wine) for free along with the side dishes!!! We drove, so we took it home! What thoughtful owners~ Bokbunja wine with eel, need I say more~!

They brought pickled onions, washed aged kimchi, pickled perilla leaves, lettuce and more as side dishes! I also grabbed garlic from the self-bar and grilled it, haha.
I scooped on the teriyaki sauce too, and I'm ready to eat eel!

Wow~ see how thick the eel is? They say good eel isn't thin but plump. It should also be dripping with gloss and springy when you press it with chopsticks, haha. I had no expectations for an all-you-can-eat place, but the eel quality at Songrimbok Jangeo was so good I was surprised.

When you get tired of it, cleanse your palate with chicken neck and pork belly! Since it's an eel specialist, the eel is of course the best, right?

Since it's unlimited, have it plain with salt and pepper~ or in a lettuce wrap with pickled onion~ or with teriyaki sauce and ginger, one bite each!

Then I fetched more from the self-bar and ate freely without worry~! When I was about to burst, I wanted more (?) so I ordered makguksu too!
Eel, then buckwheat makguksu

Wow~ the buckwheat makguksu at Songrimbok Jangeo is glossy too~ eel with makguksu, need I say more~~
What's the review event at Songrimbok Jangeo?
At Songrimbok Jangeo Daejeon Direct Store, they currently give ramen or a drink for free if you scan the QR code and write a review! Eel is rich and oily, so joining the event and having a cool fizzy drink with the meal would be perfect, right?
Overall verdict
A clean, large new eel spot in Jijok-dong!
Songrimbok Jangeo is a big restaurant, so I think a good-value eel group dinner works here too! Highly recommended when you want quality eel at a good price!
