I recently went to Sejong and had a highball in Naseong-dong, where all the good restaurants are packed together. I visited Yaki, a bar-izakaya in Naseong-dong, Sejong. I picked this place because they sell a seafood platter that gathers all the seafood I love in one plate!
Tuna, uni, sweet shrimp, ankimo, and salmon roe — all in one set! Exactly my style.
Since I hadn't eaten dinner, I added sushi rice to wrap with the seafood. And that was absolutely the right choice...! If I hadn't added the rice, the portion would've felt way too small ㅠ (individual differences may apply / if you disagree, you're right)
Inside Yaki Naseong Branch: the room and the ginger highball

The inside of Yaki Naseong Branch was pretty close to dark. It was dim, but there were lights over each table, so it worked out fine. If you're looking for a somewhat cozy izakaya in the middle of the noisy Naseong-dong strip in Sejong, this might be a decent option.

For the first time in a while, I ordered a ginger highball! I tend to prefer highballs over beer.
What comes on the 52,000 won seafood platter?

The price for Yaki Naseong Branch's seafood platter is ₩52,000. It's made up of tuna belly, uni, sweet shrimp, salmon roe, and ankimo (monkfish liver).
- Seafood platter ₩52,000 (tuna belly · uni · sweet shrimp · salmon roe · ankimo)
- Sushi rice (150g), added for ₩3,000
- Suntory ginger highball ₩7,500 per glass
It comes out with quite a varied composition. Seaweed and gamtae (dried laver) also come with it, and those are free refills. But I didn't refill. Actually, I couldn't haha. Once I started wrapping everything with the seaweed and gamtae, the amount matched up almost perfectly, so there was no real need to refill.

There was a guide on the wall showing how to eat it deliciously — for reference! But I found it tastiest when I piled seaweed, gamtae, tuna, uni, and sweet shrimp all together. Eating it that way, a few bites went by so fast it was a bit of a shame ㅠㅠ

It's meant for two, and it might be fine for two women, but for two grown men it could feel like a pretty quick finish for a two-person side dish haha. Maybe I just felt that way because I was hungry... But the tuna quality and flavor were really excellent! Which might be why the portion felt even more lacking. Still, well, it's a side dish, not a meal, so haha.
These days you can even get meal kits like this, so it's nice that you can enjoy a home omakase set with sweet shrimp, uni, gamtae, sea urchin roe, salmon, and flounder at home too!

The uni, salmon roe, and sweet shrimp all had no fishy taste at all, and you could really taste their own distinct flavors. The sweet shrimp especially was delicious!! I want to eat it again... If you like seafood — tuna, uni, sweet shrimp, ankimo — you should go! I think it'd be great as a second stop next time. As a first stop, it's a bit awkward.
Four ways to eat the seafood platter at Yaki Naseong Branch

1. Seaweed, gamtae, tuna, uni, salmon roe — delicious eaten this way too.
2. Rice, tuna, uni, salmon roe — delicious eaten sushi-style without seaweed too.

3. Gamtae, sweet shrimp, uni, salmon roe — the sweet shrimp and uni combo, well, words fail me...

4. Lastly, ankimo! I love ankimo, and here it came with crackers, which was unusual. It was tasty with rice too, so I was glad I'd ordered the sushi rice. The ankimo was on the milder side, and easy to enjoy even for first-timers. A bit mild and dry, in a good way!
How much tuna, uni and sweet shrimp do you actually get?

Yaki Naseong Branch's seafood platter had about 5 pieces of sweet shrimp and about 5 chunks of uni. The tuna seemed to be given in a similar proportion! It was decent as a side dish to go with drinks.
As I ate, it was so good I wanted more, but the only add-on option was more tuna... and doing that would basically mean ordering the whole ₩52,000 platter again, so I held back. (Next time I'll come as a second stop, not the first...) Don't go on an empty stomach... it was my own fault for going hungry, haha well.

If you're looking for a bar-izakaya in Naseong-dong, Sejong with good seafood-focused dishes — salmon, tuna, uni, and the like — this could be worth a visit.

Ah... what a beautiful sight... still looks so appetizing looking back... I'll have to remember this place next time I'm in Naseong-dong..!
