Signature photo of jokbal at The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch

Hi everyone 🐷 I was hunting for good food around Guro Station and suddenly craved jokbal (Korean braised pig's trotter), so I went to The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch. I'd heard a Chosun Hotel chef with 30 years of experience developed the recipe using grade-1 domestic pork, and I was curious — and honestly, the jokbal turned out really soft and juicy 🥹

Jokbal spread set up as the three-way combo

This time, instead of just one type of jokbal, I ordered the three-way combo so I could enjoy plain jokbal, charcoal-grilled spicy jokbal, and soy garlic jokbal all at once. Switching between the three flavors meant I never got tired of it, right to the end. It also seemed like a solid pick for anyone looking for a work dinner or family meal spot in Sindorim, so let me share an honest review. 😊

Where The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch is, plus parking and hours

The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch is on the first floor of the Sindorim 3-cha Prugio Apartments commercial building, at 경인로 619-3, Guro-gu, Seoul. It's open weekdays 11:00-22:30 (break time 15:00-16:00), Saturday 11:00-22:30, and Sunday 11:00-21:30. Parking is available at the Sindorim Prugio 3-cha basement level 1, free for up to 2.5 hours per vehicle.

I liked that it's a jokbal place near Guro and Sindorim Stations where you can actually park. Parking matters more than you'd think when dining with a group, so this is a good spot if you're driving.

Inside The Jokbal: a partitioned area for groups

The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch has about 10 tables inside. There are around 6 tables in the main hall, and one side is partitioned off with a temporary wall, giving about 4 tables their own separate space.

If you book ahead, it looks like a solid option for small group gatherings or work dinners. I visited around 4pm on a weekend, and there were about 3 tables dining in the hall. But the place was surprisingly busy inside.

Interior busy with delivery orders

Turns out delivery orders kept coming in nonstop. It really does seem to be a well-loved jokbal restaurant among the locals in Sindorim.

Jokbal from a chef with 30 years at the Chosun Hotel, and the menu

The Jokbal's biggest selling point is that a Chosun Hotel chef with 30 years of experience 🌟 makes the jokbal based on a hotel-style recipe.

The menu includes plain jokbal along with front leg, back leg, half-and-half jokbal, cold jokbal, bossam (boiled pork wraps), and makguksu (buckwheat noodles), among other options.

At lunch, they also sell meal sets like jeyuk ssambap (spicy stir-fried pork with rice and lettuce wraps) or a bossam set meal, so it looks like a solid option for lunch around Sindorim too.

I visited at 4pm, and once 5pm hit, I could watch jokbal being brought out and sliced nonstop. Seeing freshly boiled jokbal being prepared over and over — that visual alone made it clear it had to be delicious 🐷

What we ordered: the 51,000-won three-way combo

What I ordered this time was the three-way combo, 51,000 won.

You can pick 3 out of jokbal, charcoal-grilled spicy jokbal, soy garlic jokbal, cold jokbal, and bossam. I went with the combination I most wanted to try:

jokbal + charcoal-grilled spicy jokbal + soy garlic jokbal

That's what I picked.

After a short wait, a much more generous spread than I expected was laid out.

A generously set table of jokbal
Cold jokbal served as an appetizer

Cold jokbal came out first like an appetizer, and the sharp kick of hot mustard paired with the cool jokbal really woke up my appetite. It was strange how tender the meat was even served cold.

Table with lettuce wraps, bean sprout soup, and radish kimchi

After that came the three types of jokbal along with lettuce wraps, bean sprout soup, radish kimchi, and garlic chives. The radish kimchi in particular is made and aged in-house, and it went really well with the jokbal.

🐷 Plain jokbal: juicy with no sauce at all

I started with the plain jokbal first. The portion was honestly huge. The actual amount looked bigger than the menu photo, and I'd say it would be enough for 3 women to share.

A generous serving of plain jokbal

Above all, the meat was really tender. Even eaten plain without any dipping sauce, it had a juicy, chewy texture, and there was no gamey smell at all.

I put jokbal, radish kimchi, and garlic chives on a perilla leaf for a wrap — and this combo never fails. The radish kimchi was crisp and not artificially sweet, which let the clean flavor of the jokbal shine.

It was also tasty dipped lightly in salted shrimp sauce, or just with garlic chives alone.

Even the skinless lean cuts were really tender with no dryness at all. The bones weren't too big either, which made eating the meat all the more satisfying.

🔥 Fire-grilled spicy jokbal: smoky char and sauce-soaked rice cakes

Next was the charcoal-grilled spicy jokbal I'd been pretty excited about. It was a completely different feel from the plain jokbal.

There was a strong charcoal aroma and a fairly spicy glaze coating it, and the chewy texture of the skin especially paired perfectly with the spicy sauce. Eating it, I kept saying 'ugh, so spicy' while still reaching for more. 🔥

When the spiciness kicked in, a sip of the cool bean sprout soup was perfect.

The bean sprout soup broth was clean and refreshing, resetting my palate after the spicy hit.

I wrapped it in lettuce, sometimes topped with bean sprouts, and there were also glaze-soaked rice cakes mixed in, which made it fun to pick through.

🧄 Soy garlic jokbal: glass noodles underneath

Last was the soy garlic jokbal.

A plate of soy garlic jokbal

It was salty with a rich savory depth and a subtle garlic aroma rising up, giving it its own charm distinct from the plain or spicy jokbal.

This one also had glass noodles, which I love, so I liked it even more. I picked up a big chunk of jokbal along with glass noodles, put it on a leaf of napa cabbage, and took a bite — the salty glaze and the crisp texture of the vegetable matched perfectly.

Above all, all three types had generously sized chunks of meat, giving real chewiness and a satisfying, filling feel.

Going from plain jokbal to spicy jokbal and back to soy garlic jokbal, the flavor kept shifting, and I felt glad I'd ordered all three.

✅️ Review event and KakaoTalk friend-add event at The Jokbal

They're also running a Naver receipt review event and a KakaoTalk Plus Friend add event — I'd recommend joining and getting the free makguksu & drink!

Final verdict: is The Jokbal right for a Sindorim team dinner or family meal?

Overall, The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch left me satisfied because the jokbal itself was genuinely soft and juicy. On top of that, being able to enjoy plain, charcoal-grilled spicy, and soy garlic jokbal all in one sitting meant a big portion plus a variety of flavors — a great combination.

With parking available and space for groups, I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a work dinner spot or family meal place in Sindorim.

If you want proper jokbal near Guro or Sindorim Station, I left this visit to The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch quite satisfied. Next time I'd like to visit for lunch and try the jeyuk ssambap or the bossam set meal too. 😊
