Sindorim bossam restaurant: makguksu set and rice balls, Sambaekga

In short

Sindorim Sambaekga is a Korean restaurant on the first floor of the Sindorim 1cha Prugio commercial building in Guro, Seoul, serving jokbal (pig's trotters), bossam (boiled pork wraps) and kalguksu (knife-cut noodles). Two friends ordered the bossam and makguksu (chilled buckwheat noodles) set for 41,000 won and added a rice ball instead of plain rice, and the bossam tasted clean with no gamey smell while the tangy, spicy makguksu balanced it well. With a sample of naengchae jokbal (cold jokbal salad) and garlic sauce among the side dishes, Sindorim Sambaekga is a filling choice for two.

There are so many good restaurants popping up near Sindorim Station these days. One of them is Sambaekga, a Sindorim spot known for jokbal and bossam. I'd been looking for a place to eat around Sindorim and came across Sambaekga, and since I happened to have plans with a friend, I decided to check it out. They serve jokbal and bossam along with kalguksu, so it was great for a hearty, filling meal.

The exterior looked clean and well put together, and I could check out the menu right outside before going in, which was nice for deciding what to order in advance. Looking at the menu board, everything seemed made with real care, which only made me more curious!

What's on the menu at Sindorim Sambaekga

They have jokbal, bossam, and a makguksu set that's cheaper when ordered together with either. There's also a separate combo called the Sambaekjin set where you can try everything. I think I'll order the Sambaekjin set next time I come!

Side dishes and the sample naengchae jokbal

The free side dishes included garlic sauce, ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste), salted shrimp, lettuce wraps, dried radish strips, kimchi, chives, and a sample of naengchae jokbal (cold jokbal salad). The naengchae jokbal was so good I kept thinking about that cold sauce afterward — honestly, everything paired perfectly with the bossam! And the garlic sauce went so well with the bossam that I kept dipping piece after piece into it.

Bossam and makguksu set for 41,000 won: how did it taste?

I ordered the bossam + makguksu set (₩41,000). It's a combination that can't go wrong — the bossam meat was soft and moist, with a mild, clean taste and no gamey smell at all. The fat-to-lean ratio was just right too, so it wasn't greasy and I kept reaching for more.

The makguksu had a tangy, slightly sweet, and mildly spicy sauce that really woke up the palate, and the chewy noodles paired well with the crunchy vegetables — perfect alongside the bossam. Eating a piece of bossam together with a bite of makguksu was such a great combo of clean and tangy-spicy flavors!

Adding a rice ball instead of plain rice

On top of that, I ordered a rice ball instead of plain rice, and it went so well with the bossam! Made into a round little ball, popping it into your mouth along with a piece of bossam basically demands a shot of soju right after!

Can you see how good the bossam looks?? The two of us were starving and wolfed it all down, and the portion was plenty enough to fill us up!

The side dishes were also served neatly and were easy to enjoy!
