Italian dinner with friends in Yeouido: burrata salad, Cuisine R

I had a dinner date with friends in Yeouido for the first time in ages. We wanted good food and a chance to catch up on everything we'd missed, so I went looking for a restaurant with a nice atmosphere and ended up at Cuisine R, a Yeouido Station favorite! Where is Cuisine R, and what's the atmosphere like?

Cuisine R is an Italian restaurant on the 2nd floor of Baeksang Building, close to Yeouido Station. Yeouido has plenty of restaurants popular with office workers, but this one struck me as a place where you can relax over your meal and really talk.

The mood is calm and comfortable overall, so it would suit a get-together with friends as well as a Western-food date in Yeouido. We weren't in any rush that day, enjoying the dishes one by one and chatting to our hearts' content after so long.

How is the bread at Cuisine R?

Before the main dishes arrived, the table got bread first. Bread at the start of a meal is often something you just nibble and move on from, but here even the sauce served with it was tasty. Dipping the bread in it added a nutty richness that really got my appetite going. With the bread this good, I naturally started looking forward to everything coming next. Is the burrata arugula salad good?

The first dish I want to introduce is the arugula salad. It was fresh arugula topped with burrata cheese, and personally it was one of the things I enjoyed most that day. The burrata was especially good.

What does the arugula e prosciutto pizza taste like?

For pizza, we ordered the arugula e prosciutto. It has a tomato sauce base with prosciutto, mozzarella and reggiano cheese. The arugula on top made it look appetizing right away. When I picked up a slice, the fresh tomato sauce and the soft, nutty mozzarella went together really well. The salty umami of the prosciutto on top made the flavor much richer.

With the nuttiness of the reggiano added, it had a charm quite different from a plain tomato pizza. I especially liked how the arugula left my mouth feeling clean even while eating pizza. Salty prosciutto, nutty cheese and fresh arugula! Every ingredient had presence yet blended well overall, and we happily shared it among friends.

Cuisine R's signature tartufi pasta

The last dish is Cuisine R's signature pasta, tartufi. It features truffle aroma and a soft mushroom cream sauce, and it had a different charm from the risotto. The deep, rich cream sauce coated the noodles smoothly, and every bite carried plenty of truffle aroma. The umami of the mushrooms blended with the cream sauce to create a refined, deep flavor.

It let me fully enjoy the softness of the cream sauce and the strong truffle flavor! The truffle risotto was good too, but tartufi has its own appeal because you enjoy it with the noodles, so I was happy with both. If you like truffle aroma, this is a dish to keep an eye on at Cuisine R.

Is Cuisine R good for friends or a date near Yeouido Station?

The food was delicious, but what makes this visit most memorable is the good time I had with friends after so long. From the bread to the salad, risotto, pizza and pasta, there wasn't a single disappointing dish. The arugula salad with its soft burrata, and the risotto and tartufi pasta with their rich truffle flavor, are ones I still think about now. Each dish had its own charm, so ordering a variety and sharing was fun too.
