Pork belly price and self-serve corner at Euljiro Yeontan Gui Majeon Branch
Retro vibes~ Euljiro Yeontan Gui

Pork belly at Euljiro Yeontan Gui Majeon Branch is ₩5,900 per 100g. It's cheap, yet this Majeon-dong, Geomdan Sageori BBQ place is famous for good meat quality. The value is so great that anything you order is a good pick. We ordered the 600g pork set.

The basic side dishes come light, but then I went to the self-serve corner and found perilla leaves, shredded onion, pineapple and more, so it felt generous. Pork belly at ₩5,900 and even pineapple… does the owner make any profit?
What cuts come in the 600g pork set?

The pork set at Euljiro Yeontan Gui Majeon Branch is 600g for ₩35,900 and comes with pork belly, neck, pork jowl, hind-leg meat (dwitgogi), skirt meat (galmaegisal) and pork skin. I could see the owner trimming the meat himself, and since he handles good meat, my mood went up the moment I saw it. The meat quality really was great!!

In what order do you grill the pork set over briquettes?
At Euljiro Yeontan Gui Majeon Branch, the owner told us to start with the pork belly. So, being a good student(?), we went in order~~~ We cooked the big slab, flipped it once, cut it into bite-size pieces and cooked the sides. The rule: don't flip too often~~

Briquette-grilled pork belly
I laid raw onion on a perilla or lettuce leaf, then topped it with lettuce kimchi and pork belly, and
Oh my.. this place's pork belly is the real deal~
The briquette-cooked pork belly was chewy, and the juices burst out with every bite, so every single piece was delicious. I kept exclaiming, "Oh! Delicious!" haha

Pork jowl and neck
I was already wowed by the pork belly, so my expectations kept rising as I ate the pork jowl and neck. The jowl was especially springy and nutty, and the fat and skin attached to the neck were chewy and really tasty. By this point I'd ordered doenjang stew and rice too. How we'd finish it all, I have no idea, lol
₩2,000 doenjang stew at Euljiro Yeontan Gui Majeon Branch

The doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) at Euljiro Yeontan Gui Majeon Branch is ₩2,000 per earthenware pot, and it tasted good and went well with the meat. Everything on the menu here is good value, and the stew is packed with zucchini, onion and tofu~

How were the hind-leg meat, skirt meat and pork skin?
Hind-leg meat (dwitgogi)
Hind-leg meat is my favorite♡ At some point I started liking it more than pork belly, and ordering the pork set at this Majeon-dong, Geomdan Sageori BBQ place gave me a new kind of happiness that lasted from start to finish.

Skirt meat and crispy potatoes
The skirt meat had a chewiness different from anything I'd tried, like a pork cut I'd never eaten before. The potatoes grilled crisp like potato chips, almost like a snack, were new to me too~

Pork skin dipped in roasted soybean powder
Pork skin is the finale of every pork BBQ~ If it's not good I can't eat it, but I dipped it in roasted soybean powder (kongga-ru), and the seasoning was just right, so I finished every last piece.
Verdict: is Euljiro Yeontan Gui Majeon Branch worth a visit?

Euljiro Yeontan Gui Majeon Branch is a Majeon-dong, Geomdan Sageori BBQ place where I ate far better than expected.
