Seohae hair salon for gray coverage and short-cut cleanup: Goeum

With a gathering coming up, I booked Goeum Hair Salon (고움헤어살롱) in Cheongna because my grown-out gray hairs were bothering me. I had been hesitant to visit a salon after my usual one cut my hair shorter than I wanted two months earlier, so this time I tried a newly opened place.

It operates on an appointment-priority basis; when I arrived at my appointment time, I was the only person receiving a service, so it was quiet and the owner could focus on my hair.

How did they match my grown-out gray hairs and existing color?

I had a lot of gray regrowth at the time of my visit. During the consultation, the owner explained that not only the gray hairs but also the previously colored sections differed in color, almost like a two-tone look. I felt disappointed to realize that my previous salon had not matched the color evenly.

The owner said my existing color was close to shade 7 and recommended gradually matching it with the lighter shade 7 instead of covering it with a darker color. After hearing the explanation, I chose shade 7 as well.

What were the color treatment and shampoo like?

They covered my ears before starting so that the dye would not get on them. The color was applied quickly but carefully, and at the end they placed the remaining dye on top of my hair to cover even the short strands.

I waited 30 minutes after the dye was applied. During the wait, they brought me tea and a snack. I do not know the snack's exact name, but it was soft and tasty.

After 30 minutes, I moved to the shampoo room. While thoroughly rinsing out the dye, they gave acupressure from the nape to behind my ears. The firm pressure felt refreshing, and it was the part of this visit that especially stayed with me.

How were the short-cut back-line cleanup and styling guidance?

After the shampoo, they told me not to lift my head right away and to get up slowly. Back at my seat, they dried my hair and shaved the nape to clean up the back line. It looked neat and polished, which I liked.
