What kind of Seongsu café is Iridescent?

Iridescent (이리데센트) is a café in Seongsu, between Ttukseom Station and Seoulsup, and its big draw is the outdoor seating and terrace with the wide windows open. It has a barista from a five-star hotel, and it's a Blue Ribbon–winning spot known for its perilla leaf smoothie and pepper tiramisu.

I went to Seongsu over the weekend. I wanted a café where I could enjoy coffee on a terrace before it gets hotter, and that's how I ended up at Iridescent in Seongsu. The hip vibe was really great.

Getting to Iridescent: how far is it from Ttukseom Station and Seoulsup?

The closest station to Iridescent is Ttukseom Station, 386 m and a 5-minute walk from Exit 8. Seoulsup Station is almost just as close.

It's also near Seoulsup park, close to the foot-volleyball court inside it. So you can think of it as both a Seongsu café and a Seoulsup café. It's open daily 10:00–22:00, and for parking you can use the Seoulsup public parking lot.

Iridescent's terrace exterior and interior

Iridescent is on the main street of Seoulsup. The café vibe is lovely and the interior is pretty too.

They had the doors wide open, so the atmosphere was just so, so good. I absolutely love this kind of terrace-feel café, and in spring, summer and fall I only go to cafés like this. That's why I ended up at Iridescent, hehe.

Weekends at Iridescent: grab a seat first

It's a Blue Ribbon coffee and dessert spot, so Iridescent was absolutely packed on the weekend, haha. Well, it was a weekend, too! The moment you arrive, secure a seat first!

There's outdoor seating to the left of the entrance. This spot has great vibes too, haha. And the restroom is outside, through the door on the kitchen side!

The whole place feels something like this, haha. Even with the doors open, the air conditioning was running nicely, so the inside was cool. I sat in the prime spot right by the entrance with a view outside 💙 Lucky!

Iridescent is full of unique menu items made by a barista from a five-star hotel.

The menu is really distinctive, and you can feel Iridescent's own signature mood that you won't find anywhere else!

There are lots of cakes and they all look so delicious. The pepper tiramisu is the most famous, so it's worth trying! Next time I want to try the Seoulsup Choco Monster. It looks seriously good.

Iridescent's signature drinks: Active Blue, perilla leaf smoothie, granita

Iridescent's recommended signatures are the Active Blue, the perilla leaf (kkaennip) smoothie and the granita.

• Perilla leaf smoothie: the one Iridescent recommends with gusto! I only found out this time that it's supposedly the original perilla leaf smoothie café. If you're torn on what to drink, definitely try the perilla leaf smoothie at Iridescent

Blackberry granita: Iridescent has a variety of menu items made with the syrup brand Monin. The blackberry granita is a sorbet-style treat with blackberries, and you eat it with sweet chocolate cream!!

How does Iridescent's Einspänner taste with oat milk?

I had the Einspänner (₩6,800) and my friend had the lemonade (₩6,000). At Iridescent you can choose sweet cream or salty cream for the Einspänner. I'd never seen a place where you can pick the cream, and it felt fresh and nice.

Of course I went with the sweet cream, hehehe. The taste was a sweet latte full of an incredibly nutty flavor, kind of like almonds.

And of course I switched to oat milk for ₩1,200 extra 🥹🥹🥹 I recommend this café for anyone who's lactose intolerant. Iridescent is a café where oat milk is an option.

My friend's freshly squeezed lemonade at Iridescent

My friend ordered the lemonade. It comes with carefully placed lemon slices, and they say it's made fresh with lemons squeezed on the spot, haha.

Every single item feels like they poured their soul into it, haha. I can see why it's so popular. Above all, next time I have to try the signature perilla leaf smoothie. I'm super curious about the pepper tiramisu too. Popular for a reason, right? Iridescent is the original perilla leaf smoothie place, but it's good at coffee too, haha. The coffee made with aged beans was delicious as well.

When I bought coffee at Iridescent, they gave me a discount coupon for Pickdot, the photo booth next door! It's a ₩2,000 coupon. That's actually quite a lot, haha.

The shop notice lists a five-star hotel barista, special coffee made with aged beans, and pets allowed! Iridescent is a pet-friendly café.

Iridescent also sells prepaid cards, which is unusual. You get a 10% bonus from ₩30,000, so if you pay ₩30,000 you can spend ₩33,000. For office workers around Seongsu and Seoulsup, topping up a prepaid card at Iridescent seems like a cheap, good deal.

It also won an excellence award in the café/dessert category from KCIA (Korea Consumer Industry Assessment).

Iridescent uses aged special blend beans that it roasts itself. The street and the café both have a wonderful atmosphere.

If you sit right at the front, you can feel the easygoing calm of the Seoulsup street, haha. I loved sitting at the sunlit outdoor seat. Healing! Iridescent is a feel-good Seoulsup café, hehe.

Iridescent in Seongsu: final verdict

• Right next to Seoulsup and a short walk from the subway station
• A café with the windows thrown open and a fantastic mood
• Overwhelming signature menu items you can't find anywhere else

I love terrace-feel cafés, haha. If you're visiting Seongsu or Seoulsup, give Iridescent a try. It's an oat milk café I'd recommend to lactose-intolerant folks too 💕 Next time I'll try the perilla leaf smoothie I'm so curious about and post a review!
