Seongsu café open-run on a day off: fresh fig soufflé, 5to7 Seongsu
In short
5to7 Seongsu Main Branch is a soufflé and coffee café on the Seongsu café street in Seongdong, Seoul, a five-minute walk from Seoul Forest. After taking a day off to walk through the Seoul Forest garden expo, we arrived right at opening and took a second-floor seat with a Seoul Forest view for the fresh fig soufflé, the 5to7 spanner (an einspänner-style coffee under whipped cream) and a Dutch americano. The two-tier soufflé at 5to7 was so large that two of us could not finish one, so we skipped a second order.

It's been a while since I took a day off to go on a date with my ex-boyfriend-now-husband~ 💕 This time our date course was Seongsu 💕
I heard the World Garden Expo is running at Seoul Forest until October, so we walked around it, and since we were already in Seongsu, we decided to properly enjoy a café.
Right next to Seoul Forest, with a great café view, delicious coffee and dessert, and a perfect interior — let me introduce this Seoul Forest soufflé spot, 5to7 Seongsu Main Branch 😍
Where is 5to7 Seongsu Main Branch, and what are its hours?
5to7 Seongsu Main Branch is located at 44-13 Seoulsup 2-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, and it's really accessible from Seoul Forest. Walking about 5 minutes out of Seoul Forest, it sits over on the café street. Hours are 12:00-21:00, with last order at 20:30.

5 to 7 Seongsu Main Branch has an open kitchen, so you can watch both the soufflé being baked right there and the coffee being brewed in the moka pot.
I did such an open run that all I got were photos of them still prepping haha

First-floor seats, terrace and the second-floor Seoul Forest view
5to7 Seongsu Main Branch has various seats on the 1st floor too, and there are also terrace seats on the outside stairway going up from the 1st to 2nd floor — foreign guests mostly seemed to grab spots there.

We skipped the already-crowded 1st floor and went up to the 2nd floor. Up there, there's a cozy, spacious wood-toned space too, where we could talk comfortably.

It's so prettily decorated that just looking at it feels healing~

Sit here and you get a proper Seoul Forest view~ So green, isn't it healing?

How big is the fresh fig soufflé at 5to7?
Since it was a rare date, all restrictions on sweets were lifted!!! We ordered the fig soufflé loaded with fresh cream, my husband got the Dutch americano, and I got the 5to7 supeoni.

I'm a fig lover, so the fresh fig soufflé packed with in-season figs 💕 The combination of seasonal figs with a light drizzle of honey? syrup? and the moist, fluffy soufflé — what is this?! It really made me say 'this is so good!' 😁 (warning: it's way bigger in real life than in photos)

Ahh... look at this picture-perfect three-shot~ Just looking at the photo makes me want to eat it again.
And the soufflé here is two layers, so the portion is pretty huge. (Surprisingly, the foreign customers order one soufflé per person haha) We were planning to also order the other signature menu, the pearl crème brûlée soufflé, but we had to give up after finishing just the one lol

Dutch americano and the 5to7 spanner
My husband's Dutch americano was also a really good cup of Dutch coffee, with that distinct Dutch aroma and nuttiness coming through nicely.

Honestly a sweet soufflé like this is best paired with an americano, but I chose the supeoni instead, right? With that crackly caramel layer like a brûlée — the combination of coffee, milk, and custard cream in the supeoni was a magic item that gave me both coffee and dessert in one.
Tapping it with a wooden spoon makes that tak-tak sound, with a firm texture you can't get from a regular supeoni — that's what makes 5to7's own supeoni special!
Is 5to7 Seongsu worth it for a Seongsu date?
Honestly, writing this post makes me want to go back again — this Seoul Forest café soufflé spot 💕💕💕 I recommend it to anyone heading to Seongsu!! Next time I want to try the crème brûlée soufflé and a latte made with the moka pot!
