If you're after gomtang (beef bone soup) near Eulji University Hospital in Uijeongbu, definitely go to Hagane. It's a real gem that I get takeout from all the time.
How did I become a Hagane Hanwoo Gomtang regular?
Hagane Hanwoo Gomtang Uijeongbu Main Branch (하가네한우곰탕 의정부본점) is a new gomtang place on the street across from Eulji Hospital. I'm the regular who takes home Naju gomtang two or three times a week, and this time I finally sat down and ate in for the first time.

My parents live in Nogyang-dong, so I pass this road every day. One day I saw restaurant construction across from Eulji Hospital and thought, "I really wish a place would open where I could get takeout and eat with the kids at home." Then a gomtang place opened and I was so happy! I stop by twice a week for Naju gomtang takeout for the kids' dinner, and today I got a kind invitation to visit, so I ate really, really well.

Hagane Hanwoo Gomtang is right on the street in front of Eulji Hospital, and the sign catches your eye easily. At lunchtime it's packed with customers. I'd always only done takeout, so this was my first time eating there, and it was so good and so filling that I skipped dinner!! If one meal is this generous, you honestly don't need dinner.

Is there anyone who dislikes hanwoo (Korean beef) gomtang?! Koreans all love gomtang, of course. I love a hot, rich bowl too, and the price is so kind that it's a perfect meal.

Hagane Hanwoo Gomtang atmosphere and how ordering works
The restaurant is new, so the interior is pretty. You order at the table and pay at the counter. It was lunchtime and so crowded that I couldn't photograph the whole place.
The staff are friendly too, and you can grab side dishes at the self-bar, so you can eat plenty of kimchi without feeling awkward. Honestly it's just good points all around, this Hagane gomtang place by Eulji Hospital in Uijeongbu.

You order comfortably at the table like this and pay at the counter!! A single bowl of gukbap (soup with rice) is perfect already, but there's also the Hagane set, with a choice of main soups plus sides, and I really recommend it!!

There's also a guide on how to enjoy it, so I read it carefully: taste the broth first, without adding salt. It sticks to your lips, which shows it's been simmered for a long time with real hanwoo.

What's at the Hagane Hanwoo Gomtang self-serve bar?
At the self-bar you can help yourself to side dishes like kimchi, radish and pickled onion, plus somyeon (thin wheat noodles) and sujeonggwa (cinnamon punch). The somyeon was unlimited at no extra charge.
They bring basic side dishes when you sit down. With takeout, I always wanted more kimchi, radish and pickled onion since you only get one container, but eating in, I can have as much as I like, which is so nice. (Takeout portions are generous too, so takeout is very appealing ^^)

With a self-bar, you can just grab whatever you're short of.

You all know somyeon in gomtang is amazing, right? That somyeon is unlimited at the self-bar. Places usually charge extra for each portion of noodles, but the owner of this Hagane near Eulji Hospital in Uijeongbu is generous.

You can also help yourself to sujeonggwa. Personally I'm not a sujeonggwa person, haha, but my husband sipped it happily and said it was good. If you like sujeonggwa, have lots!

The takeout my kids love most: Naju gomtang
I've tried every Hagane menu item as takeout, and the kids' favorite is Naju gomtang (a clearer-style beef soup). We get Naju gomtang twice a week and regular gomtang once.
There's a menu at every seat, so it's easy to read at a glance. I've taken out everything on it, and it's all really good.

Salt, pepper, mustard sauce and more are set out so you can season to taste.

Set meal price: ox head gomtang + seasoned beef tendon, 13,900 won
The ox head gomtang + dogani muchim (seasoned beef tendon) I chose from the set menu was ₩13,900. The tendon is so, so good. Please try it. You have to eat that!!

Hagane suyuk set: Naju gomtang + boiled beef tendon, 15,900 won
The Hagane suyuk set (boiled beef) is Naju gomtang plus boiled beef tendon for ₩15,900. We ordered two sets, my husband and I, and ate really, really well. The weather suddenly turned cold today, so a warm gomtang was an excellent choice.

The suyuk was delicious, and with garlic and ssamjang (dipping paste) it was heavenly! If you're a meat person, definitely have gomtang at this place by Eulji Hospital in Uijeongbu, and if you like sweet-and-sour seasoning, try that muchim too. I was so curious about the sauce ratio recipe, it was that good.

Rice portions at Hagane Hanwoo Gomtang and final verdict
The rice is packed down tightly too, so the portion is generous. I thought I'd burst after a whole bowl, but once I put rice in the gomtang, a full bowl of rice vanished, haha.
I ate so, so well. This is my keep-it-secret gem, where I get takeout twice a week for the kids' dinner: Hagane Hanwoo Gomtang!! If you're coming for Eulji Hospital appointments or visiting a patient, don't go anywhere else. Come to this Hagane near Eulji Hospital in Uijeongbu, which is really tasty, generous, honest and friendly~~ It's really good~~
