I’ve been pouring so much love into the diamond painting I made for the first time recently. I’d confidently recommend diamond painting as a hobby to anyone around me! The more cluttered your mind feels, the better a hobby it is: the process is easy and simple, yet finishing it feels incredibly rewarding, and you can use it as a decorative piece, too. Time flies, honestly! There’s so much fun in placing each little bead, one by one ~

How you store a diamond painting you made with such care is really important, too. Let me share why you should use a bead-sealing finish and what to watch out for when using diamond painting sealer.

A bead-securing finish you still need after completion

Just because you’ve attached every bead to the canvas doesn’t mean you’re done!

They may be easy to attach, but they can come off easily, too. When you rub the surface with your hands because it’s so pretty, you might suddenly notice an empty spot.

Here’s how to secure the rhinestone-like beads so they don’t fall off, while coating them at the same time! And because it’s a diamond painting, we can’t give up that subtle, shimmery gloss either ~

So I prepared this ~ It’s Hasi Diamond Painting Sealer! It’s an essential finishing product if you want to keep a completed diamond painting like a work of art for a long time.

What comes with Hasi Diamond Painting Sealer and how to use it

It even includes a soft silicone brush that lets you apply it evenly without brush marks, so it was convenient not having to prepare one separately.

It comes snugly packed in a pretty box with super-simple instructions, so it would also make a nice gift for someone who enjoys diamond painting.

Before using it, remove the protective cap and then close the lid.

The lid is not designed to come all the way off. Twist it open just enough, squeeze out what you need, then twist it back the other way to lock it.

With a generous 247ml of clear gel glue, it was easy to spread evenly over the diamond painting.

Hasi Diamond Painting Sealer is said to use only non-toxic, water-based PVA ingredients and purified water, so it can be used safely with children.

Why use a diamond painting sealing finish?

It prevents beads from falling off

Adhesion can naturally weaken over time, and even a small impact can make beads lift or fall off. A finishing sealer firmly secures the whole surface so it stays stable for a long time.

It protects against dust and dirt

When you hang a diamond painting on the wall, dust naturally builds up. Bead surfaces especially attract dust and hair because of static electricity. A bead-sealing finish creates a protective layer, making it easy enough to wipe lightly with a wet tissue and helping it stay cleaner.

The sparkling gloss comes through even more

Matte finishes give a calm, tidy look, while glossy finishes emphasize the sparkle of the gems. Hasi’s finishing sealer is said to coat the rhinestone-like beads evenly with a gloss-protecting emulsion, bringing out a subtle shine and the colors of the beads. It’s nice to choose a sealer based on the mood you want for your piece! Personally, I love it when a diamond painting sparkles like a diamond painting should.

If you have children or pets, a bead-securing sealer is essential! Loose beads can create a risk of a child or pet swallowing or inhaling them, so be sure to apply a finishing sealer for safety.

Things to note before and after applying sealer

If you apply too much in one spot, the surface can turn cloudy and lose some sparkle. I recommend spreading it evenly in several thin coats. Some inexpensive finishes can yellow, so I recommend using a tested sealer made specifically for diamond paintings or an acid-free varnish. Once you have applied the finishing coat, it is difficult to reattach or replace beads, so make sure to check for any missing beads before sealing.

After spreading the sealer evenly, you can wash the silicone brush with water and reuse it.

It is mostly dry in around 30 minutes to 1 hour, but for a complete hold, it’s best to let it air-dry for at least 24 hours.

Once it is completely dry, you can enjoy a subtle gloss that sparkles with more dimension in the light. It really does look even prettier! And I no longer have to worry when my child says it’s pretty and rubs the surface all over! I love the feel of a finished diamond painting so much that I keep rubbing it, too ~ ♥
