In short
Baekyang Sutbul Galbi Yeonsan is a charcoal-grilled pork galbi restaurant in Yeonsan-dong, Yeonje-gu, Busan, a 5-minute walk from Yeonsan Station. The writer and her husband ordered half raw, half marinated galbi with somaek (soju mixed with beer), then a yangpuni kimchi stew served in a big brass pot with ramen noodles already in it, alongside a large bowl of meoseumbap (farmhand-size rice). With fair prices, a clean dining room and friendly staff, Baekyang Sutbul Galbi Yeonsan is a neighborhood galbi spot the writer will definitely revisit.

A recommended Yeonsan meat restaurant: Baekyang Sutbul Galbi (백양숯불갈비).
After a week of running hard, there are days you crave a sizzling piece of charcoal-grilled meat and a cold drink, right? This weekend I wanted smoky galbi (pork ribs), so I went to Baekyang Sutbul Galbi, a meat restaurant in Yeonsan the locals rave about! The moment I smelled the galbi turning golden on the grill, a week of fatigue just melted away. From the quality of the meat to the neat side dishes and the sweet-salty marinade, I was completely won over. Here's my totally satisfied review!
Where is Baekyang Sutbul Galbi Yeonsan, and is there parking?
Baekyang Sutbul Galbi Yeonsan is a 5-minute walk from Yeonsan Station. There is no parking lot of its own, so I'd recommend a nearby paid lot :)

A clean, spacious dining room for a BBQ restaurant
My first impression was that it's really clean, not at all what you expect from a meat restaurant! No grease or stickiness, the tables and floor are neatly kept, and the tables are spaced widely so it never feels cramped. The ventilation is good too, so you can chat comfortably without worrying about smoke :) With so much space and room between tables, I thought it would suit a family meal as well as an after-work company dinner!
The sincere notices hanging on the walls made me trust the place before I even ate! The line "We only serve real pork galbi, hand-prepared every day" shows the owner's special pride in the meat. It felt like they want to serve guests a proper meal, not just sell meat, so my expectations rose before I even grilled anything!

Free kimchi stew for a receipt photo review
The perk you must not miss at Baekyang Sutbul Galbi Yeonsan is the receipt photo review event :) The yangpuni kimchi stew bubbling at other tables looked so good, and if you join the photo review event they give you that hearty stew for free. Pretty nice, right?

Side dishes and the self-serve bar
The basic table setting comes with pa-muchim (seasoned scallion salad), ssam-mu (pickled radish wraps) and a special sauce, and you can fetch more side dishes and wrap vegetables from the self-bar. It's a solid lineup that brings out the galbi, and I loved it! From the sweet-spicy scallion salad to the tangy radish wraps and the sauce that boosts the galbi flavor, everything went beautifully with the meat. And since you can take as many side dishes and vegetables as you like from the self-bar without feeling awkward, the whole meal felt generous and satisfying.

Half raw, half marinated galbi with somaek
I couldn't give up either the clean-tasting raw galbi or the sweet-salty marinated galbi, so we ordered half and half :) And with charcoal galbi this good, somaek (soju mixed with beer) is a must! Once the soju and beer were mixed nice and cold, we were fully ready to grill.

Thick raw galbi goes on the charcoal first
They put the clean-tasting raw galbi on the heated grill first! It sizzled the second it touched the grill, and seeing how thick the meat on the bone was, I couldn't help but gasp. It picked up golden grill marks over the red charcoal, and the juices came bubbling up, just gorgeous. Maybe because the meat itself is so good, even though it's thick it wasn't dry at all, and the chewy-yet-tender texture was simply the best! (I'm using every good expression I know, haha)

The raw galbi is great dipped in the oil sauce, great dipped in the special sauce, great wrapped with pickled onion in a lettuce wrap, great any way you eat it. It melted the moment it hit my mouth, and my husband and I ate it truly moved :)

Small rice ₩500, large meoseumbap ₩1,000
Oh, and there are two kinds of rice at Baekyang Sutbul Galbi: mannim rice (a smaller bowl) for ₩500 for moderate eaters, and meoseum rice (a big bowl) for ₩1,000 for those who want to eat their fill. After finishing the raw galbi and before moving on to the marinated galbi, we ordered rice, which you can't skip. We're carb lovers, so we picked the meoseum rice! The amount of rice was so overflowing that my husband and I laughed for a good while, haha.

Yangpuni kimchi stew with ramen noodles included
Hahaha, rice alone felt a little lacking, so we also ordered the yangpuni kimchi stew. The amazing part is that Baekyang's yangpuni kimchi stew comes with ramen noodles included as standard. As someone who loves kimchi stew with ramen noodles, I was so happy :)

Ask for a fresh grill before the marinated galbi
At Baekyang Sutbul Galbi, the marinated galbi uses a different grill! So if you tell the staff before eating, they'll swap the grill for you :) Above all, the owner and staff were really kind, so I was satisfied the whole meal. Honestly, no matter how cheap and tasty a place is, I lose any wish to return if the service is unfriendly, but maybe because kindness is added to the flavor, regulars keep streaming in. We quietly hopped aboard the regulars' train too!

Best combo: white rice with marinated galbi
If I had to recommend the best combo at Baekyang Sutbul Galbi, it would be white rice plus marinated galbi! A never-fail pairing: the marinade is sweet-salty, and the rice was fluffy and perfect.

Would I go back to Baekyang Sutbul Galbi Yeonsan?
Thick, fresh meat, deep charcoal aroma and cheerful, kind service: everything was perfect here! With both flavor and kindness covered, the whole meal was pure healing. If you're looking for delicious charcoal galbi and a hearty meal out in Yeonsan, I absolutely recommend Baekyang Sutbul Galbi Yeonsan. My intention to return is 10000%!
