Dongnae highball brunch: seafood pasta and katsu at Sasaenghwal

In short

Sasaenghwal is a pasta and katsu brunch restaurant on Yeogo-ro 113beon-gil in Dongnae-gu, Busan. The meal paired Badanmaeul Pasta (seaside village seafood pasta, ₩17,900) and the 4-type katsu platter (₩18,900) with Saenghwal Highball 1 and 2 at ₩9,000 each; the highballs stayed rich even as the ice melted, and the katsu was clean and free of grease. Inside Sasaenghwal: bar seats for solo diners, tables for groups

The interior was open, clean, and sophisticated — the stylish design left an impression haha. There are bar tables so dining solo doesn't feel awkward at all, and there are also group tables that comfortably seat 4–6, making it a space that works well whether you're eating alone or with a group!

What we ordered at Sasaenghwal and what it cost

'Order' 4-Type Katsu Platter — ₩18,900 Baedasmaeul Pasta — ₩17,900 Saenghwal Highball 1, 2 — ₩9,000

How do Saenghwal Highball 1 and 2 taste?

The Baedasmaeul Pasta ('seaside village pasta') had such a mouthwatering look, and the portion was generous too, which made it even better. The pasta was filling enough to enjoy on its own, but it also worked really well as a snack to pair with a highball — if you like oil pasta, totally recommend it 👍🏼

The highballs were also on the richer side, so even as the ice melted they didn't turn watery — you could enjoy them tasty right to the last sip 👍🏼 Saenghwal Highball 1 had a sweet, tangy grapefruit-apricot flavor, and Saenghwal Highball 2 had a refreshing, clean lime-apple flavor! Both were bright and not too strong, easy to drink like a regular beverage, and honestly just really delicious 🥺

Loaded with clams and shrimp, the Baedasmaeul Pasta really delivered on seafood flavor. The plump shrimp and chewy clams added savory depth with every bite, and the distinct nutty, salty flavor of the oil soaked well into the noodles — a dish that stayed clean and light without ever feeling greasy, with a genuinely deep flavor 💛

What comes on the 4-type katsu platter (₩18,900)

Seemed to be the most popular menu item at Sasaenghwal, so we ordered it too — the '4-Type Katsu Platter.' Scotch egg, cheese katsu, sirloin katsu, and tenderloin katsu — four kinds in one dish, which was great for tasting a variety of flavors in one go 👍🏼

The plating alone looked so pretty, and the meat texture was tender, making it delightful for both the eyes and the mouth 😖 The sauces came in a regular option and a slightly spicy one, so you could taste it your way — not greasy at all throughout, no excess oil, just light and really delicious!
