Namcheon-dong Japanese diner: gift shops while you wait, Daidokoro
In short
Daidokoro Gwangalli Main Branch (다이도코로 광안리본점) is a Japanese home-style restaurant in Namcheon-dong, Suyeong, Busan, near Suyeong-gu Office. Even at weekday lunch the writer was 5th in the CatchTable queue, so she browsed nearby gift shops while waiting, then shared the plum set for two with her husband, adding mini tempura udon, a curry topping and milk pudding. Despite the wait, the cosy interior, karaage and milk pudding made Daidokoro a Namcheon-dong lunch worth waiting for.

How long is the weekday lunch wait at Daidokoro Gwangalli Main Branch?
There was a wait at Daidokoro Gwangalli Main Branch even on a weekday lunch. I had only been to the Daidokoro at Lotte Department Store in Nampo, so I finally made it to the Gwangalli main branch not long ago. It was weekday lunchtime and the wait... gulp. Popular restaurants really are different, haha. I put my name down on CatchTable, wandered around the gift shops nearby, and when my turn came I had a delicious lunch of the plum set for two ♡

Where to park for Daidokoro Gwangalli Main Branch
There is no private parking lot, but if you use a nearby paid lot and show your parking ticket, they support ₩1,000. I used the closest one, the Saratoga parking lot.
Daidokoro's exterior near Suyeong-gu Office
Daidokoro is a Namcheon-dong favorite near Suyeong-gu Office ♡ Even the exterior is adorable.

When I was taking these photos I had no idea there'd be a wait... haha
Joining the CatchTable queue and browsing Namcheon-dong gift shops
Daidokoro is on the 2nd floor, and when I climbed the stairs people were already waiting. CatchTable first, haha! You enter your phone number and can even pick your menu in advance.
I was 5th........ haha. If a weekday lunch is like this, weekends must be even busier?!! A Blue Ribbon, Red Ribbon place indeed ♡ I went out to browse the nearby gift shops while waiting for my turn!
What is the atmosphere like inside Daidokoro?
The inside of Daidokoro Gwangalli Main Branch is decorated with Japanese character goods. Wow~ it grabs your eye the moment you walk in ^^ If you like cute little things, this is the place, really!! haha
The space isn't big, but there's a restroom and everything was well kept.
Daidokoro menu and what we ordered
Daidokoro has set menus like the Dado Special Set, the summer plum set and the Signature Set, plus à la carte items, set meals and sides, so you can order to your taste! I came with my husband, ordered the plum set for two, and added mini tempura udon and curry topping. The milk pudding was so good that I ordered one more, too~
They also have a special event and a review event running, so give them a try ^^ Each table has shichimi (Japanese chili spice), furikake (rice seasoning), salad dressing, cups and pudding spoons, which was handy.
What comes in Daidokoro's plum set for two?
Ta-da! Our plum set for two has finally arrived ♡

Plum ade with Haribo gummies
Oh my~ what is this cute little plum ade, haha. There's even Haribo jelly inside ^^ The tangy-sweet plum ade was nice to sip in the middle of the meal.

Mini tempura udon and menbosha (shrimp toast)
I slurped the tempura udon before it got cold, and enjoyed it~~

The crispy menbosha (shrimp toast) gets a dip in the chili sauce, nom nom ^^

Is Daidokoro's karaage a must-order?
Crispy outside, juicy inside karaage (Japanese fried chicken): definitely order it!! So good ♡

I dipped it in the curry and also generously in the sauce that came with it, yum! Bursting with juice, haha

Neat little side dishes
The plum set's side dishes include tofu, croquette, pickles, danmuji (yellow pickled radish), kimchi and even pudding, so it's neat and nice for tasting a bit of everything.

Pork cutlet dipped in curry, and egg rice
The tonkatsu (pork cutlet) is even better dunked generously in the curry~~~

Isn't the egg rice just too cute, haha? I sprinkled on the furikake from the table and it was even better ♡

Is Daidokoro's milk pudding worth adding?
Finally, dessert pudding!! I already knew how good Daidokoro's milk pudding is, so I ordered an extra one in advance, haha.

Soft, sweet pudding that melts in your mouth ♡ For a cute and delicious lunch, I recommend Daidokoro, the Blue Ribbon Japanese home-style restaurant in Gwangalli ^^
