I hadn't had good pasta and steak in a while, and I wanted to enjoy a relaxed chat over a meal, so I headed to Pyeongridan-gil. Bupyeong's Pyeongridan-gil is full of characterful restaurants and cafés down every alley, so it's actually fun just deciding where to go. This time I visited Two Find Peter Bupyeong, which has a great atmosphere and a nice variety of dishes.

The overall vibe won me over the moment I walked in. It wasn't over-decorated, but there were tasteful little props and lighting placed here and there, making it a comfortable space to eat in.

What is the atmosphere like at Two Find Peter Bupyeong?

Stepping inside, the first things I noticed were the tastefully colored framed art and wood-tone furniture. The small wireless table lamp on every table was especially striking. The soft light warmed up each table nicely, which was great for food photos too, and gave the whole space a cozy feel.

It wasn't too dark or overly formal, so I could relax and enjoy the meal, which was another plus. It would suit dates, of course, but also meals with friends, blind dates, or slightly dressier gatherings like a pre-wedding get-together. Personally, I thought it fit the phrase people use these days for a restaurant with genuinely good vibes.

After we sat down and ordered, the pre-meal bread and pickles came out first. But it wasn't just plain balsamic oil — they'd drawn a cute smiley face on top of the oil with balsamic vinegar. It seems like such a small thing, but little details like that quietly put you in a good mood. The warm butter roll that came with it had a nice buttery, savory flavor on its own, so it was delicious even plain.

Dipping it in the balsamic oil is nice, but I'd actually recommend trying the bread on its own first while it's still warm.

How does the abalone innards cream risotto taste?

The first dish was the abalone innards cream risotto.

I expected risotto to be mushy, but the rice actually kept a bit of texture, which I liked. The sauce was quite thick and rich, and the distinctive deep flavor of abalone innards really came through. The small chunks of abalone were more generous than I expected, giving it a nice chew too. True to its name, this dish had both the softness of cream and the deep flavor of abalone.

Adding a bit of the white cream sauce served alongside made the flavor even smoother — if you like a rich, creamy sauce, this dish would be quite satisfying.

Shrimp basil oil pasta at Two Find Peter Bupyeong

The second dish was the shrimp basil oil pasta. There was a generous amount of basil pesto on the plate, giving it an appetizing, vivid green color. Plump shrimp, whole garlic cloves and cherry tomatoes were mixed in, so every bite brought together the flavors of several ingredients.

If the cream risotto was rich and heavy, the basil oil pasta felt comparatively light and fresh, so I was glad we ordered both. Personally, I felt it could have used a touch of spice or a bit more cheese flavor, but overall it was clean and not greasy, which made it easy to eat alongside the other dishes. The cherry tomatoes especially added a burst of tartness here and there, helping balance out what could otherwise feel like a heavier dish.

Best dish of the day: creamy chicken steak

And the most memorable dish of the day was the creamy chicken steak. If I had to pick just one dish from that day to eat again, this would be it. The chicken was browned to a nice golden color, chewy and crisp on the outside while staying moist and tender inside. But most of all, I loved the generous amount of cream sauce poured over the top.

The savory saltiness of the chicken paired so well with the rich, smooth cream sauce that eating them together felt far more satisfying than the chicken alone. And the baguette served alongside turned out to play a surprisingly important role — there was enough sauce that it was plenty for dipping. Dipping the warm baguette generously into the cream sauce was, on its own, a pretty satisfying bite.

Eating it, I found myself thinking, 'they really know how to do cream sauce here,' which made me want to try the truffle cream pasta next time.

Is Two Find Peter Bupyeong a good date restaurant?

Overall, Two Find Peter Bupyeong was a place where you can enjoy the atmosphere of the space just as much as the food. The tasteful framed art, warm table lighting and clean plating all made for a pleasant meal, and with risotto, pasta and steak all on the menu, it seemed like a good spot for a group to share dishes.

If you love cream-based dishes in particular, the abalone innards cream risotto and creamy chicken steak are worth keeping an eye on. On the other hand, if you'd prefer something lighter, ordering the shrimp basil oil pasta alongside would make for a well-balanced combination.

If you're looking for a restaurant on Bupyeong's Pyeongridan-gil that's easygoing but still has good atmosphere, this is worth a visit. It felt like a space that works well for both occasions that call for atmosphere, like dates or blind dates, and casual meals with friends.
