Sashimi takeout at Sokcho Jungang Market: where to park
I picked up my sashimi at Sokcho Hwanggeum Mulhoe Hoetjip (속초황금물회횟집) at the market entrance, and parked at the paid Jogwang Parking Lot, ₩1,000 per hour. The market's public parking lot was packed so I gave up on it, and the walk from Jogwang to the market entrance is short, so it was actually easier.
Planning a summer vacation? So many people are heading to Sokcho these days~ I went with my boyfriend too. And you can't skip raw fish on a Sokcho trip! We took assorted sashimi to go from Sokcho Hwanggeum Mulhoe Hoetjip, a Sokcho Jungang Market favorite, and had a really satisfying dinner~
You know how hard parking is around Sokcho Jungang Market, right? ㅠㅠ We gave up on the public lot and used Jogwang Parking Lot (paid). It's ₩1,000 an hour, so no big deal! It's close to Elephant Snack Bar (코끼리분식) too.
Where is Sokcho Hwanggeum Mulhoe Hoetjip?

Famous for mulhoe and sashimi takeout, the restaurant is at the entrance of Sokcho Jungang Market, so it was easy to find! Just walk a little past the trendy Elephant Snack Bar. It felt newer than other raw fish restaurants, and so clean-looking!
Lots of people were eating inside. Mulhoe is supposedly the famous dish, and plenty of people were having it!! Customers kept coming in while we waited for our takeout, haha. There were a lot of takeout orders too, so you can tell it's a Sokcho Jungang Market favorite.
Is a market raw fish restaurant clean? Hygiene at Hwanggeum

The inside felt clean and tidy from the entrance, and the kitchen is almost fully open, so I felt safe eating here. Hygiene is usually the biggest worry when buying food at a market~ but this place was sparkling and shiny! The kitchen was kept clean too, haha.
When I ordered assorted sashimi to go, they gave us a seat inside to wait~ It was hot out, and the staff were so kind, which I loved, haha. Takeout normally takes about 10 minutes, they said, but it came out much faster than they told us.
Sokcho Hwanggeum Mulhoe Hoetjip menu and takeout options

The menu was really varied, from abalone porridge to mulhoe, wild squid and assorted sashimi! The location is great too, so it'd be nice for lunch while strolling around Sokcho Jungang Market~

It's known as a Sokcho mulhoe spot, so quite a few customers were taking mulhoe to go. We got sashimi, haha. There's an assorted sashimi box too, so we hesitated~ but we don't really like sea cucumber and the like, haha, so we went with farmed live-fish sashimi!! We ordered the medium (3-4 servings). They said it can be packed in a box too!!
₩70,000 medium sashimi platter: enough for two?

The sashimi takeout comes with soy sauce, wasabi, chojang, ssamjang, aged kimchi, seaweed and wrap vegetables. You don't need to bring anything else! So easy!

The medium farmed live-fish sashimi (3-4 servings) was ₩70,000, and there was enough for two people to get full. We also bought other dishes at Sokcho Jungang Market and enjoyed dinner~ The assorted sashimi was fresh and chewy! They recommend it for 3-4 people, so I think it would be plenty for that. We wanted to stuff ourselves since we were in Sokcho, so even though there were only two of us, we got the medium, hahaha.
Would we return to Sokcho Hwanggeum Mulhoe Hoetjip?
Would I return? ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐! It's famous as a Sokcho Jungang Market mulhoe spot, so next time I go to Sokcho Hwanggeum Mulhoe Hoetjip I have to try the mulhoe, haha. Manseok Dak Gangjeong (chicken glazed in sweet sauce) and Elephant Snack Bar are all nearby, so lunch while browsing the market would be great too. I totally recommend it if you're in Sokcho and torn between sashimi takeout and mulhoe takeout from the market!
