Where is MUG in Ulju, Ulsan?
MUG is a large forest bakery café at 90 Hyangsandagae-ro, Sangbuk-myeon, Ulju-gun, Ulsan. It's about 12 minutes by car from Jasujeong Cave Country, 29 minutes from Ganwoljae, and 24 minutes from Taehwagang National Garden, so it pairs well with a drive around Eonyang and Ulju.

Today I'm introducing a place you reach by following a forest path away from downtown — a bakery café in Eonyang, Ulsan called MUG, perfect for relaxing in nature. I got a little out of the city for once and headed to this large café in Eonyang.

A great stop if you're already out driving around Eonyang or Ulju! MUG has a spacious dedicated parking lot right in front, so no worries about parking 🚗 With its wide outdoor space and surrounding nature, it's a large Ulsan café worth driving out of your way for.
What time is the weekend soap bubble show at MUG?
MUG runs a soap bubble 🫧 show on weekends and holidays, at 1pm and 3pm, each running for 30 minutes.

It happened to be going full swing when I arrived!!

The kids absolutely loved the bubbles haha. Just note the show may change or get canceled depending on weather or conditions, so keep that in mind!

Shall we head inside~~

Why MUG is built from blackened charred wood
Apparently this site had been used to grow ornamental trees for over 20 years, until a wildfire destroyed them all. The trees were replanted and the space rebuilt into what is now this café.
So the black wood scattered throughout the café — I assumed it was just interior styling, but it's actually charred wood (tanhwamok). It's not just a pretty café, but a space that was brought back to life after hardship. With so many trees around, it really felt like a brief escape into nature!!

Which breads and cinnamon rolls we picked at MUG
Of course you have to get coffee and dessert at a café haha.

There was a wide variety of bread, but people grabbed them the moment they came out and they sold out fast.

They kept restocking though, so after a short wait more bread came out again lolllll.

MUG's signature dessert is the cinnamon roll (apple, blueberry, lemon, tiramisu). And the tiramisu cinnamon roll is a limited item sold only on weekends and holidays!

Couldn't resist grabbing one lolllll. I put a freshly baked olive cheese ciabatta and a tiramisu cinnamon roll on my tray and headed to the register~

What we ordered at MUG and what it cost
- MUG black latte ₩7,500
- Americano ₩5,500
After ordering the charcoal-colored MUG black latte, the café's signature drink, and an iced americano, I carried my bakery picks over to my table.

What is at MUG's self-serve bar and amenities?
You could even see the soap bubbles from my seat. Oh!! And one thing I loved — MUG offers two kinds of water, lemon water and grapefruit water, plus straws, napkins, syrup, and even paper bags to take leftover bread home haha.

The restrooms were spotless too, and there was even a thoughtfully placed diaper-changing space!! Plus dogs are allowed on the outdoor terrace!! It was fun watching the cute dogs outside too ><
There was also a microwave, so they warmed up my olive cheese ciabatta — ta-da,

Sipping coffee slowly while looking at the scenery around me really felt different from your typical downtown café haha.

Sometimes I just like sitting blankly at a café, and watching outside while drinking coffee here made me feel unexpectedly calm 🌿

MUG isn't just a coffee shop but a full bakery café, so there's a wide variety of bread and desserts, with cinnamon rolls as one of the standouts — definitely try one if you love them. Since the bakery menu apparently changes a bit with the season and ingredients, I plan to try different items next time.

Walking the MUG grounds on a rainy day
Stuffed from all the bread, I stepped outside for a short walk,

It rained a lot that day and things were a bit gray, but it was still lovely.

Good for visiting with kids or taking your dog out, and easy to pair with Jasujeong Cave Country or other drive spots around Ulsan. MUG 🖤 is the kind of café I'll think of again whenever I want to leave the city and have coffee in nature. The easy parking and wide outdoor space especially make it great for family visits or outings with your dog haha. If you're looking for a slightly different café near Ulsan, I recommend MUG.
