I was trying to figure out what to eat in Yeouido IFC Mall when I suddenly, desperately craved tteokbokki (spicy rice cake), so I went to Hyeonseonine Tteokbokki Premium IFC Mall Branch! It's inside the shopping arcade right next to the underground walkway that connects subway lines 5/9 to IFC Mall, and every time I pass by on the moving walkway I see it packed with people — I always end up walking in as if hypnotized, haha!! This day my body reacted the same way, drawn straight to the tteokbokki haha. Tteokbokki isn't exactly a fancy dish, but once you start craving it, nothing else really substitutes for it, haha.

How to walk to Hyeonseonine from Yeouido Station, and what the seating is like

If you use the underground walkway that connects Yeouido Station to IFC Mall, you can get there without ever going outside — really convenient on bad-weather days or hot summer days! It also seemed like a good spot for a quick meal while shopping at IFC Mall, or for office workers in Yeouido to grab lunch, haha.

Yeouido's tteokbokki favorite Hyeonseonine has plenty of tables inside, but there are also outdoor tables, so you don't need to worry about seats even during busy lunch hours!! Luckily I visited in the afternoon and got seated right away with no wait!!

I'd known Hyeonseonine as a famous tteokbokki place in Yongsan, so I was oddly happy to find you can also eat it here in IFC Mall~? The vibe is a bit cleaner than your typical snack shop, more like a proper sit-down spot, which makes it a good pick when you're craving tteokbokki in Yeouido!!

What comes in the Hyeonseonine set: tteokbokki, fritters, sundae and mini gimbap

Ordering was via kiosk, easy peasy~~ There were single dishes and several kinds of sets on the menu, but we didn't hesitate and ordered the Hyeonseonine set!! It comes with tteokbokki + fritters + sundae (Korean blood sausage) + mini gimbap (seaweed rice roll). With tteok-twigim-sundae plus gimbap, it's basically every dish you'd want from a snack shop, all in one combo~?? For someone like me who wants a little bit of everything, a set menu like this is the best!! Just tteokbokki alone feels lacking, but ordering everything separately means too much food and too high a price — the set let us enjoy a full spread of variety on one table!!

The self-serve bar and how clean the restaurant is

The self-serve bar was super neatly kept, and the staff member wiped down our table over and over — hygiene was absolutely on point!!

How does the medium-spice tteokbokki taste?

The moment the food arrived, I felt it once again: tteokbokki really needs tteok-twigim-sundae plus gimbap all together to complete the picture!! With fritters, sundae, and gimbap lined up next to the red tteokbokki, just looking at it made my mouth water, and I dug right in!!

You can choose the spice level for the tteokbokki, and I went with mild~!! I didn't quite have the courage for the very spicy option, haha.

With tteokbokki, the color is half the flavor, and the visuals and color here were no joke~?? It tasted exactly as good as it looked, so good I scraped up even the sauce!!

Hyeonseonine's sundae, organ meat included

The sundae came generously loaded with liver and lung, and the portion was really plentiful too!!

The mini gimbap portion is bigger than expected

Personally I'm a total carb-killer, so gimbap is a must for me~haha. I figured it'd be just a small mini gimbap portion, so I wasn't expecting much,,, but the gimbap was so plentiful I was genuinely shocked~haha.

The filling inside was super generous too, so I'm officially calling this a gimbap favorite too!!

Why the fritters are a must-order at Hyeonseonine

Honestly, one of the biggest reasons I really love Hyeonseonine is this fritter!! They're genuinely a vegetable fritter favorite here, seriously good at frying — crispy and just absolutely delicious!!

They also give you broth on the side, so if the tteokbokki feels a bit spicy you can just drink it right away>< It seems to already be famous among foreign visitors too, since a lot of them were there, and everyone was drinking this broth like crazy, haha.

With fritters, dipping them in the tteokbokki sauce is basically the unwritten rule, so I dipped them properly in the sauce, and every single one was so good I devoured them all~haha.

Personally I also really love squid fritters, and Hyeonseonine gives a generous portion of those too, so if you come here you absolutely must order the fritters!!! That wraps up my review of Yeouido's tteokbokki favorite, Hyeonseonine IFC Mall Branch!! Bye><
