A while ago I stopped by Gyodae during lunchtime and visited Halls Gimbap, a gimbap and dakgangjeong spot that's perfect for a quick meal near Gyodae Station.
If you're looking for a solo lunch restaurant near Gyodae Station, Halls Gimbap will satisfy you completely! Here's my honest review~
Where Halls Gimbap Main Branch is, and where to park
Halls Gimbap Main Branch in Seocho is a Gyodae Station restaurant good for solo dining, just a short walk from Exit 1!
For parking at Halls Gimbap Main Branch, you can just ask the store. When I asked, they told me brief parking in front of the shop is possible~
In front of the store, the operating hours and various Halls Gimbap menu items are posted, so you can check what's available before going in, which I liked~
Halls Gimbap is the restaurant formerly known as Auto Gimbap Seocho, now newly launched as Halls Gimbap. They say the owner, the staff aunties, and even the special seasoning all carry over from before, so I figured the taste was guaranteed!
Inside Halls Gimbap: bar seats for solo diners and kiosk ordering
True to a Gyodae Station spot good for solo dining, bar tables made up most of the seating, with larger tables also available for Seoul National University of Education students or nearby office workers to gather and eat together.
Ordering is done through the kiosk in the store. A number appears on your receipt, so make sure to keep it instead of throwing it away~

Halls Gimbap has a wide range of menu items. You can order a half-and-half gimbap and dakgangjeong set, which is great for solo diners who want to try a variety of dishes without much burden.
They also sell cup noodles that go well with gimbap, and there's bonito broth too, which made the experience even more satisfying~
They use olive oil and raw cane sugar, which gave me hope that this would be healthier gimbap!
Halls Gimbap: the savory hit of seasoned fish cake inside the egg
After a short wait, the food arrived. I ordered the Jindo Green Onion Tuna Gimbap dakgangjeong set and the signature Halls Gimbap!
Halls Gimbap, packed full of fillings!
It had carrot, cucumber, and pickled radish inside, so even though it's gimbap, it felt light and fresh rather than heavy.
The fillings were generous even at the end pieces, so much so that it felt like a shame every time a roll disappeared bite by bite!
Inside the egg was seasoned fishcake, and this fishcake really brought out the flavor of the gimbap~ Thanks to the savory fishcake, I enjoyed Halls Gimbap even more~
What does the Jindo green onion tuna gimbap taste like?
Next up, the Jindo Green Onion Tuna Gimbap, packed full of light and nutty tuna!
The tuna, which could easily feel greasy, was cut perfectly by the refreshing green onion, and the ingredients came together in harmony.
It wasn't drenched in mayonnaise, so I could enjoy the Jindo Green Onion Tuna Gimbap with a clean, clear taste~
What comes in the dakgangjeong set, and the cheongyang chili
The dakgangjeong that came with the set had 5 pieces, which was a great side dish to pair with.
I heard the dakgangjeong is made with chicken thigh meat prepped fresh that same dawn, which made me even more excited for this menu item!
The crispiness of the Halls Gimbap dakgangjeong was really something special! True to a solo-lunch-friendly Gyodae Station restaurant, having a set menu meant solo diners could also enjoy dakgangjeong without any pressure.
One notable feature of Halls Gimbap's dakgangjeong is that it comes with cheongyang chili peppers.
The sharp cheongyang chili balanced out the flavor of the dakgangjeong, making it even more enjoyable! If you like spicy food, adding extra cheongyang chili would be great too.
Is Halls Gimbap worth it for a solo lunch near Gyodae Station?
