Two Find Peter Beomgye Branch (투파인드피터 범계점) is a pasta and pizza restaurant on the 5th floor of Park Avenuel near Beomgye Station in Anyang, Gyeonggi. On a third visit, the writer had dinner with a friend and ordered the corn pizza (21,000 won), hot shrimp garlic pasta (14,000 won), house white wine and fresh orange juice. The pizza-loving friend ate 4 of the 6 corn pizza slices, and Two Find Peter Beomgye Branch is a good pick for two people sharing pizza and pasta.

Bongcheon Korean restaurant, friend's first kodari: Sangdo Neulbori

Sangdo Neulbori Bongcheon Station Branch (상도늘보리 봉천역점) is a Korean restaurant specializing in kodari (braised half-dried pollack) and octopus, near Exit 5 of Bongcheon Station in Gwanak, Seoul. On a gloomy day, the writer brought a friend who had never tried kodari jjim; they ordered the siraegi (dried radish greens) kodari braise for two at ₩31,000 with added sweet potato and cheese rice cakes, and the friend was happy enough to clap. With a sweet-and-spicy sauce, radish, potatoes and a self-serve barley rice bibimbap, Sangdo Neulbori Bongcheon Station Branch is a great choice for a hearty meal.

Korean pub in Sadang for mom: octopus and Neulbom makgeolli, Sisibibi

Sisibibi is a Korean pub serving Korean-style drinking food on the 2nd floor near Exit 8 of Sadang Station in Dongjak, Seoul. On a visit with my mom, we paired barley doenjang (soybean paste) raw fish salad with boiled octopus, beef and napa cabbage steam and spicy red egg soup with Neurinmaeul Neulbom makgeolli, and even my mom, who doesn't usually drink, enjoyed the food. Sisibibi is a calm Sadang bar worth returning to for Korean bar food and traditional liquor.

Gwacheon izakaya for friends: spicy daechang hot pot at Horangigul

Horangigul Gwacheon Branch is a daechang (beef large intestine) hot pot izakaya near Exit 11 of Government Complex Gwacheon Station, on the Hillstate side in Jungangdong, Gwacheon. The writer takes visiting friends to Horangigul Gwacheon Branch for the spicy-level daechang hot pot (15,500 won per person) dipped in yuzu soy sauce, then turns the leftover broth into cheese risotto. Horangigul Gwacheon Branch is a Jungangdong spot for group dinners and get-togethers where even people who don't enjoy daechang may fall for the broth and daechang combination.

Gojan-dong, Ansan pub: garlic yuringi and honey soju at Banwolga

Banwolga is a pub serving handmade dishes in Gojan-dong, Ansan, near NC Department Store and CGV, across from a 7-Eleven. On a second round with a friend, the writer ordered garlic-heaped spicy yuringi (fried chicken in soy-vinegar sauce, 24,000 won) and grilled cuttlefish (38,000 won), and Banwolga's vitamin C, honey and heotgae (hovenia hangover) sticks, brought one after another, stood out. Verdict: Banwolga is a Gojan-dong pub worth revisiting when you want good atmosphere and good food together.

On a return visit, the writer walked straight in around 5:30pm on a weekend evening and ate the ₩55,000 couple course: duck brisket BBQ, raw duck jumulleok (spicy-sweet marinated duck), doenjang (soybean paste) stew and DIY fried rice. Deo Chadol's spicy-sweet duck jumulleok was good enough to be the reason for coming back.
