Hi everyone, it's Neudong! Yangnim-dong is a neighborhood where old buildings and pretty cafés fill every alley, so it's fun to just wander slowly~~ Before the kids' school pickup... my sister and I had a long-overdue teatime at a local café~

Hoyang Horim is a hanok bakery café in Yangnim-dong, located at 4 Uwolsun-gil, Nam-gu, Gwangju, South Korea, 1F. It's open from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and you can park at the Yangnim History & Culture Village public parking lot.

I'd been here once before with my sister! Walking down the alley, the distinctive hanok roof and wooden materials come into view, and you already feel that emotional atmosphere before even stepping inside! It's especially famous as a bakery café for gaeseongjuak (traditional fried rice cake)!

Hoyang Horim is a hanok café built around a courtyard. The warm, calm feeling of a hanok combines with the coziness unique to cafés, making the whole space really comfortable~~ On a nice day, it'd be lovely to relax with coffee at the outdoor seats!

The interior blends wood materials with warm tones~~ True to a hanok café, it's not decorated to be overly flashy — the interior design plays up the charm of the space itself, which actually made it feel even more comfortable. It suits a date spot well, and it's also great for chatting over tea with a friend~~

Good for quiet conversation, and also 🆗🆗 for visiting solo just to rest with a cup of coffee.

Gotgamsando: chewy dried persimmon, barely sweet

I'd honestly been really curious about the gotgamsando~~ It's made with dried persimmon and black sesame cheese... not too sweet, nutty, the persimmon chewy, the cheese soft~~ all three worked so well together~ Plus, the crunchy walnut bits tucked inside felt so good~

Blueberry Basque cheesecake with black coffee

The blueberry Basque cheesecake!! How is it this soft?? Soft enough to eat without teeth, almost?????? It paired especially well with the americano! The bitter, nutty edge of the coffee balanced out the sweetness of the dessert — the combo was great~~

Switching to the black sesame cream latte

I've been into grain lattes from a certain chain lately... and yep, I switched to the black sesame cream latte?????? Hahahahahahahahaha it's nutty and has that bitter coffee edge — so good~ And it's not too sweet, so I kept reaching for it!!! Seriously~~~~~~~~ Totally my style!! And above all, both the desserts and the coffee weren't too sweet overall, which made everything easy to enjoy!!
