Seongsu date café after lunch, kid-free weekday: mango soufflé, 5to7

In short

5to7 Seongsu Main Branch is a soufflé pancake café in a converted house on a side street near Seoulsup in Seongdong, Seoul. On a weekday while their child was at daycare, a couple had lunch in Seongsu, then shared a mango soufflé pancake, a café latte and a vanilla latte at 5to7 Seongsu Main Branch, parking at the Seongdong-gu Citizen Sports Center. The fluffy soufflé and fresh mango were so good that even a husband who doesn't care for sweets ate almost all of it, making 5to7 a satisfying Seongsu date stop.

What kind of café is 5to7 Seongsu Main Branch?

5to7 Seongsu Main Branch is a soufflé pancake café in a Seongsu alley near Seoulsup. It was a rare day: I had finally sent Pureum to daycare and my husband was off work, so we had a kid-free date! We had a nice lunch in Seongsu for the first time in ages, then headed toward Seoulsup for a yummy soufflé dessert.

The exterior looks like a renovated house, cozy and vintage, and it blends right into Seongsu's signature alley vibe!

Where do you park for 5to7 Seongsu Main Branch?

We parked at the Seongdong-gu Citizen Sports Center (성동구민종합체육센터). There was plenty of space and the price was friendly. Parking right there also made it easy to stroll around Seoulsup. There are lots of other places to park too, like D Tower and Galleria Foret, so I don't think you need to worry about parking.

The café is about a 2-minute walk from the parking lot, and Seoulsup is just 2 minutes the other way, so it's a perfect date course💗

Walking to the café from the Seongdong-gu Citizen Sports Center parking lot

After parking at the sports center, walk a little and you'll see a shop with a big "5to7" sign! It's easy for foreign visitors to find, which I think is part of why it's so popular. Even on a weekday afternoon the place was packed. The popular seats were already taken, haha.

Atmosphere and seating at 5to7 Seongsu Main Branch

The café spans the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors. Maybe because it's a converted house, the whole place feels cozy and relaxed, with wood-toned furniture and soft lighting.

The tables are spaced widely and the space has a real sense of calm, so it's nice for chatting and resting. It's so popular that seats run out on weekends and at peak times, so time your visit well! There are outdoor tables too, and on a cooler day I'd have sat outside:)

How is the 3rd-floor rooftop in summer?

The 3rd floor runs as a rooftop, but it was so hot that nobody was up there. I think the rooftop would be even more popular in spring or fall.

How long is the wait for the soufflé pancake at 5to7?

The soufflé pancake, the signature menu item here, is started the moment you order, so I was told it takes about 25 minutes to be served. It's the café's signature, so be sure to try it!

Since it was summer, we ordered a refreshing mango soufflé pancake, plus a café latte and a vanilla latte to go with the dessert!

How does the mango soufflé pancake at 5to7 taste?

The mango soufflé pancake comes with two thick-baked soufflé sheets topped with soft cream, fresh mango and a rich mango purée sauce. The sheets are so fluffy and jiggly that they split apart with just a fork, no knife needed...!

The texture is so light it seems to melt the moment it hits your mouth. There's no eggy smell at all, just a rich, nutty flavor, so I kept going back for more, haha.

The mango flesh was sweet and fresh, with a clean, refreshing fruit sweetness rather than an artificial one. Even my husband, who doesn't usually like sweet food, said the bread was soft and well balanced with the fruit. He pretty much ate it all by himself..

Is 5to7 Seongsu Main Branch a good Seongsu date café?

I'd recommend 5to7 Seongsu Main Branch if you want a properly made soufflé pancake in a Seongsu alley, or a date in a calm, cozy mood. Seoulsup is right next door, so it's easy to eat and then take a walk. The fluffiness of that mango soufflé! It's a spot I truly recommend, so do give it a visit.
