Hongdae gomtang restaurant with no break time, rice already in: Anok
In short
Anok is a hanok-style Korean restaurant on Hongik-ro near Hongik University Station in Mapo, Seoul, serving house-simmered clear broth as pork gomtang (rice and meat soup) and Pyeongyang naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles). Anok runs with no break time, so four tables were still filled on an odd mid-afternoon visit, and the clear pork gomtang arrives with the rice already mixed in, making even the basic order generous; the special is 17,000 won. With mild naengmyeon and tender pork tail jjim (braised pork tail), Anok suits a quiet family meal or a lunch with older relatives.

Looking for a good-value spot around Hongdae? I found a place with no break time and a great atmosphere, so I wanted to share it! If you visit for lunch, this is exactly the kind of place where you can eat something hearty and clean-tasting.
What kind of place is Anok? A new hanok-roofed Korean restaurant in Hongdae
Anok is a newly opened Korean restaurant in Hongdae! It's a place where you can enjoy delicious gomtang (bone/meat soup) and Pyeongyang naengmyeon made with broth boiled in-house!

There's no separate parking, so I'd recommend using a nearby public parking lot! Those pretty hanok-style roof tiles you can see right away — this is Anok!
Inside Anok: seating, the 12-person group table, and reservations

This Hongdae lunch spot has a clean, quietly elegant interior with table seating, and the group table seats up to 12! Even for groups, the space itself is a bit compact, so reservations are difficult, and you're seated on a first-come, first-served basis! Good to keep in mind before you visit.

We visited at a pretty awkward time — around 3pm on a weekend — and even then, four tables were already occupied!! That's how popular this Hongdae lunch spot is.
What's on the menu at Anok

Here's the menu! The main offerings were these neatly presented single-bowl dishes! They sell gomtang and Pyeongyang naengmyeon based on a clear, deep broth boiled in-house — perfect for a Hongdae lunch spot!

Our order came out right away! The space itself is great for a quiet meal in Hongdae — a family gathering, a meal out with elders, or a small get-together in a hanok setting!
Clear pork gomtang: a bowl that arrives with the rice already mixed in

I ordered the clear pork gomtang, the signature dish for a hearty Hongdae lunch!

The rice doesn't come separately — it's already mixed into the soup! The special is ₩17,000, and even the basic order came in a huge portion!
There's a ton of meat in there too... and the clear, deep broth boiled in-house was really excellent.

Topping the meat with the dipping sauce really brings out the umami. It was a filling Hongdae lunch — great to bring your parents to!
Pyeongyang naengmyeon (water-based): plain broth you keep thinking about

My first time trying Pyeongyang naengmyeon was in Hongdae... the house-made broth is served chilled, giving a clean, light water naengmyeon!
You can order this at this Hongdae lunch spot, and the noodles themselves are super chewy, so you get a light, clean bite through the texture.

Doesn't the noodle itself look so springy? It's really mild in flavor... but it's the kind of Hongdae naengmyeon taste that stays with you.

Eating this Hongdae lunch spot's meat alongside made it even more filling! If you ask for vinegar or mustard separately, they'll bring it out, so if it feels too plain, go ahead and request it!
Pork tail jjim: so tender there is barely anything to chew

Pork tail jjim (braised pork tail) is also a signature dish, so we ordered it together! It seems like a great dish to order again when coming for a drink later too. Recommended as a nice-atmosphere Hongdae drinking spot!
Chewy texture... it was fresh pork tail braised until incredibly tender — so soft there was barely anything to chew. It just melts...

What's great about this Hongdae lunch spot is that nothing was too intense in flavor! It wasn't harsh at all — actually leaned a bit sweet, which I liked even more. This newly opened Anok in Hongdae felt even cleaner and had that lovely hanok dining atmosphere!
Looking for a quiet, delicious restaurant in Hongdae? Head to Anok Hongdae, where you can enjoy great Pyeongyang naengmyeon or gomtang, and have a good time in a place with a wonderful atmosphere.
