Ever hesitated about eating BBQ near Sinsa Station for a gathering or date because you're worried about smoke getting into your clothes? This time I found the perfect comfortable BBQ spot that solves that problem completely. I went to Sansol, famous for its aged meat. Between the well-priced, generous set menu and the fresh yukhoe bibimbap (raw beef rice bowl), my dad and I had a really satisfying meal.

What kind of place is Sansol Sinsa Main Branch?
Sansol Sinsa Main Branch is an aged pork specialty restaurant on Naruteo-ro 12-gil in Seocho-gu. It's great for grilling meat in the evening, but they also have a solid lunch menu, so it's apparently really popular as a lunch spot for office workers nearby.

Waiting and reservations at Sansol Sinsa
Since it's such a popular place, you might worry about the wait, but you can register for the waitlist or book in advance through the Catch Table app, which was really convenient. I'd definitely recommend checking Catch Table before you visit!
How clean is the restaurant, and what grade is the meat?
The first thing that surprised me the moment I walked in was how incredibly clean it was! Even though it's a BBQ restaurant where meat is grilled, the floor wasn't slippery and there wasn't a single sticky grease mark on the tables — a perfect 100-point first impression.
On top of that, all the pork used at Sansol is apparently carefully selected top-grade 1st-grade meat. With such good-grade fresh raw meat then aged on top of that, the quality and flavor are basically guaranteed before you even take a bite.

They're even serious enough about ingredients to use Odae rice from Cheorwon for the fried rice and red snow crab from Sokcho for the ramyeon!
The Sansol Sinsa Main Branch menu and prices
Let me walk you through Sansol's menu, which makes deciding what meat to eat a happy dilemma!

My dad and I ordered the Sol Assortment (2-3 person) set and the yukhoe bibimbap!

What banchan (side dishes) and sauces come with the meal?
Watching the table get set once we sat down, the spread at Sansol Sinsa Main Branch was as elaborate as a hanjeongsik (traditional set-course) restaurant. You could tell right away how much thought went into the banchan (side dishes).

There was a nice variety of sauces to dip into as you liked — Maldon salt and wasabi, herring roe jeotgal (salted herring roe), ssamjang (dipping paste), and a special scallion-soy sauce, all adding rich flavor. On top of that, the side dishes were perfect for cutting through the richness of the meat — tangy yuzu radish salad, aged kimchi, yeolmu (young radish) pickles, seasoned vegetables, and cool nabak kimchi (watery radish kimchi) — so good you never got tired of the meat.
Why your clothes don't smell of smoke here
In particular, thanks to the staff grilling the meat from start to finish and Sansol's downdraft ducts, I could comfortably enjoy all these delicious banchan and meat without worrying about smells clinging to my clothes.

Dameun Makgeolli is on the drinks list too
Do you all know this makgeolli (rice wine)? Dameun Makgeolli — I love makgeolli so much I went to a makgeolli pop-up and picked this as my top choice, and I was so glad to see Sansol selling it too. They really know their stuff, no cap.

How does the Sol Assortment set (2-3 people, 56,000 won) taste?
As I mentioned above, we ordered the signature Sol Assortment (2-3 people, ₩56,000) set, which lets you generously try a variety of cuts at a reasonable price. It included all the popular cuts — aged pork belly, aged flower collar, aged kkodeulsal — so the lineup was really solid.
Since this place specializes in aged meat, even the color of the meat on the grill looked different from usual.

Taking a bite of the meat, grilled crisp outside and juicy inside by an expert hand, the juices burst with every chew and each cut had its own chewy texture — truly a work of art!

Aged kkodeulsal (chewy pork cut)
The owner put the kkodeulsal (chewy cartilage cut) on first, and I dipped it in salt — the fatty part wasn't just chewy fat, it had this alive, springy texture that made me think, so this is what 1st-grade pork tastes like. It was heavenly even with just salt.
I'd also really, really recommend the combo of tangy seasoned vegetables with herring roe and wasabi!

Aged pork belly
The aged pork belly had the perfect ratio of lean meat to fat, giving it a clean, savory flavor without being greasy! Maybe because it was aged, a deep umami kept building up the more you chewed. It's tasty plain, but dipping it deep into the special scallion-soy sauce cleared the palate completely, so the meat never got old and I just kept eating.

Finishing with hanwoo yukhoe bibimbap (raw beef rice bowl)
Once we were pretty full from the meat, we added the yukhoe bibimbap (raw beef rice bowl) as our meal course. It came piled high with fresh, chewy yukhoe made from domestic hanwoo (Korean beef) over rice, and the look of it alone made my mouth water.

The various vegetables, the savory seasoning sauce, and the nutty hanwoo yukhoe blended perfectly with the rice — the perfect dish to finish off a hearty meal. Even piling the leftover grilled meat on top, I kept eating even when I was already full.
Restrooms and the parting touches
Sansol had separate men's and women's restrooms inside the restaurant.

On the way out, they even had candy and floss ready so you could leave feeling fresh. Between the spotless, grease-free atmosphere and the domestic 1st-grade aged meat grilled deliciously for us from start to finish, this was a perfectly healing meal at Sansol Sinsa Main Branch! If you're looking for a real BBQ spot near Sinsa, definitely give it a visit.
