My husband and I had an errand nearby, so we went to Dongbaek and ate at Dongbaek Hanokjip. Thanks to my in-laws watching the baby..! we got to go to a meat restaurant that's hard to visit with a little one :) I wanted something to restore my energy, and I was craving beef~ so we ate beef at Dongbaek Hanokjip!

How were the meat smell and ventilation at Dongbaek Hanokjip?

The ventilation must be good, because there was almost no grilled-meat smell, and I thought, could you even bring a baby here..!? Fire is dangerous for babies, of course~~ but for smell and air, it passes!

Now a butcher restaurant: how you pick your meat

Dongbaek Hanokjip wasn't originally a butcher restaurant, but it recently changed its concept a little, so you can now get good-quality meat at better prices. You can pick beef and even pork butcher-shop style and grill it yourself!!

Self-bar with ssam vegetables, cabbage salad and onions

The self-bar at Dongbaek Hanokjip has fresh vegetables: ssam (wrap) vegetables, cabbage salad and even onions.

With vegetable prices so high these days~ my husband and I eat our veggies really diligently at restaurants! haha The self-bar here had plenty of vegetables, too, right? We ate them gratefully and happily ㅎㅎ

What are the lunch specials at Dongbaek Hanokjip?

Dongbaek Hanokjip sells beef short rib at a really reasonable price, and the quality is great too! At lunch there are also lunch specials: a hanwoo (Korean beef) yukhoe (raw beef) bibimbap set, yukhoe naengmyeon (cold noodles), or beef bulgogi hot pot, so lunch is even more worthwhile!

Top-grade short rib platter, limited to 10: enough for two?

After we ordered the meat, the charcoal was set up at our table, and the charcoal looked really good!! The fire was roaring~~ and the meat cooked nicely.

We ordered the short rib platter at Dongbaek Hanokjip. I liked that it's a platter where you can try various cuts of beef!!

When people hear beef galbi (short rib) they usually think marinated, but the galbisal (rib meat) here is raw, unmarinated galbi, so the beefy flavor of the rib is even richer. So satisfied~~

It's even better with the scallions grilled nicely over the charcoal haha!! Scallion + beef is a combo I can't resist~~

Maybe because they use good rice, it's really chewy and tasty, so ordering a bowl of rice is a must, a must~~

Ordering one beef platter at Dongbaek Hanokjip left the two of us perfectly full and happy~ The short rib platter includes bone, so for better value I'd also recommend the Suwon-style marinated emperor cut (hwangjesal), 600g!

Handmade bibim naengmyeon from the receipt review event

Dongbaek Hanokjip gives a free handmade bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles, ₩.8) when you write a receipt review! They said they'd give us bibim naengmyeon for a receipt review, so I jumped right into the event. The sauce was really savory and delicious~~

Eating it with the galbi made it even better! Need I say more~ There was plenty, so I shared it with my partner :)

Paying with local currency and parking at Dongbaek Hanokjip

Dongbaek Hanokjip accepts local currency, so after eating our fill we paid with it and got 10% off, which made the meal even happier! Parking is available behind the restaurant :)
