Why we went to Angyeonggwa Saradeul in Namdaemun for lighter glasses

My companion, whom I'll call Side-by-Side P, found their usual glasses too heavy, so I tagged along to Angyeonggwa Saradeul (안경과사람들), a famous Namdaemun optician, to switch to light titanium ones! Wearing glasses every day left the nose pads area and the spot behind the ears squashed, so P wanted a lighter material, haha. Namdaemun is well known for eyewear, and we'd heard it has lots of designs at friendly prices, so we went on word of mouth :)

At the entrance, the bright blue 'Angyeonggwa Saradeul' sign with a round glasses logo caught our eyes right away! The inside was brightly lit behind the big front window, so it felt easy and comfortable to walk in!

Once inside Angyeonggwa Saradeul, I was honestly surprised! Maybe because it's so well known in Namdaemun, lots of customers were already getting glasses made, haha. From people browsing to people getting eye exams, you could feel the lively energy, and I thought, 'We came to the right place!' :)

There were so many kinds of glasses inside! Everything from light Benco Ultem frames to good-value lines was neatly organized by price range and design. The choice of frames was huge, which I loved.

On the wall showcase, there were photos of celebrities wearing trendy glasses, along with stylish sunglasses on splendid display! Besides the frames, browsing the trendy sunglasses was great fun too :)

How many frames can you try on?

I think P tried on about 20 frames at Angyeonggwa Saradeul! We began comparing them one by one to find the pair that suited P best, and the optician was really kind and checked everything carefully. There was no pressure at all; they fitted each frame and listened to P's opinion, which was touching :)

With so many types, P freely tried everything from half-rim styles to the popular two-bridge and polygon frames, hunting for the frames of a lifetime, haha.

The final pick: slim polygon titanium frames

After fitting more than 20 frames, the one P fell for was a slim, refined titanium frame! When I lifted it, it felt like holding nothing, and we couldn't help exclaiming, haha. The slightly polygonal, angular design suited P's face perfectly :)

After choosing the frame, we went straight to the exam room at Angyeonggwa Saradeul for a precise eye exam. Professional measuring equipment was neatly set up there, which boosted our trust a lot.

The optician carefully checked P's current vision and even daily habits while helping with the exam! From measuring vision to setting the prescription, it was all one-on-one and so thorough that even I, watching from the side, felt reassured :)

After the precise check, they set the best custom lenses for P! They took astigmatism and refractive error into account in detail and matched the prescription lens combination perfectly!

One more check with test glasses

Once the lens prescription was set, we went through one more careful check with test glasses to see whether there was any dizziness and whether vision felt comfortable while walking around! They didn't miss even the smallest detail, which really touched me... :)

The titanium glasses arrived by courier: how were they?

After everything was set at Angyeonggwa Saradeul, the glasses were made right away, and we had them delivered by courier so we could receive them comfortably at home! A few days later they arrived, and P tried them on. Because titanium is so light, there was no strain on the nose at all and P said they were really comfortable to wear, and was super satisfied, haha. I even thought we should have switched sooner!
