Kkua Gimpo Janggi Branch is an easy walk from Janggi Station Exit 4, so it's convenient to reach by public transit too. It sits in the food alley behind the Janggi branch of McDonald's.

Parking is available in the space beside the restaurant and in front, so it was fine to visit by car as well.

How the banh xeo and shrimp rolls taste

The staff kindly explained how to eat the dishes as they brought them out.

The banh xeo looked appetizing, coming out freshly fried and crispy.

You put on gloves, cut it with scissors, place it on rice paper, then dip it in sauce to eat.

Crispy banh xeo with crunchy bean sprouts and shrimp added made for great texture and flavor.

There were three sauces to choose from depending on your taste, and it gets nuttier the more you chew.

The shrimp rolls that came with it were also great — crispy outside with plump shrimp inside.

Bun cha with smoky grilled pork and plenty of herbs

I liked that the bun cha at Kkua Gimpo Janggi Branch had a gentle smoky char in the meat.

The meat was tender too, so it was easy to eat together with the noodles.

Dunking the noodles and vegetables into the sauce that came with it, then topping with meat, went really well together.

The sauce was slightly tangy with a savory depth that perked up my appetite.

The vegetables were fresh too — I don't usually eat many vegetables, but I ate a ton while having the bun cha. There was plenty of meat as well, making it a filling bowl.

How is the pho broth in Janggi-dong, Gimpo?

The pho broth at Kkua Gimpo Janggi Branch was rich yet clean, so it wasn't heavy and I kept spooning it up.

It had a local, authentic taste, so I think fans of Vietnamese pho would really like it.

The meat wasn't tough and was tender, so it was easy to eat together with the noodles.

In between the banh xeo and bun cha, spooning up some pho broth cleanses the palate so you can keep eating.

Is the signature set at Kkua worth it?

The atmosphere was great, the food was delicious, and the staff were friendly, so I left feeling good after the meal.
